The next task was to mark out a guide line for the upper, matt white above deck level and the window grey below deck level. The idea being that I could freely paint the white by going just over the line and only have to mask up once when I start the window grey. The attached photo shows the guide line being marked out in the Engine Room. I then continued to mark out the Aft Torpedo Compartment/Motor Room, as this follows the same split colours. After the 4th coat i'm happy there's a nice even coverage and leave the white at that. Granted, it still looks a little scruffy, but i still have to touch in where the white has over ran onto the dark grey, then mark out, mask up and apply the window grey to the lower half. That concludes the painting side of things for this week. Following the trend where I show you a few of the detailing extras I've bought to fill out the post, this week, it's all about the paint! This photo shows 'Kreigsmarine, German Navy WW2, Set 1' by Lifecolour. From this set i used UA 602, Dunkelgrau [DKM 51] for the upper hull and U 603, Hellgrau [DKM 50] for the camouflage stripes. The window grey for the lower half of the compartments is classified as RAL 7040. A close match for this is Tamiya XF19 [Sky Grey]. I bought two pots of this to be on the safe side and a pot of 'Duck Egg Blue' for some of the machinery in the U-boat, a colour we used in submarines for the same purpose. Different systems have different colours making it easy to identify, especially with so many valves and hand wheels. Phil That is all looking very nice. I am intrigued now to see what you have in store for the rest of the build  cannot even begin to guess what you might be upto but based on your build so far i am sure its going to be knockout. Happy Modelling

Lots more to come including the addition of modelling lichen to represent seaweed.
