Just done a bit of a search and it appears that the anchor chains were White in the pre-war years and either Grey or Black during the war. This is dependant on where the ship was and various other criteria. Below is a link from where I gathered the info. Hope it helps. tiny in this clearly once mighty ship.
It's demise is a really sad chapter in our
history but at least the memory is kept

Hi all It's been while since I posted but I've been busy at work-again! Anyway a couple of photos of my progress. Upper deck now being populated. The upper deck was quite warped, I had noticed this on another similar model so clamped it for a couple of days. Still a tiny gap but not really noticeable. Regards Alan

Thank you. I agree the ladders look good
but I’m undecided about whether or not to paint
them.
Certainly for aesthetics they look good but not realistic.

Nice work Alan, looking good. As to the ladders, brass always looks good but, as you say, for realism I would paint them.
One other point, if you keep your pic size at around 140k they will appear in the diary without people having to download them.
