Hi..Can I just thank everyone for contributing all the useful hints and tips to this forum..without it..as a first time builder I would have given up well by now. I am thoroughly enjoying this new found hobby but not being very organised I seem to spend half my time looking for a piece of wood that was supplied in a previous issue! I'm currently on issue 87 attaching the chainwales Now step 4 says "Pin the brass supports to the wales the plans in the relevant issues show the positions of the nail holes" looking back I can't find any mention of these nail holes. I've learnt enough so far to know the positioning of these chainwales and supports is important to avoid problems later on. also pinning the supports to the wales with cut down 3 mm blunt nails won't be easy any useful technique? any advice would be appreciated.

Hi there, you need to be looking at stages 75 and 83, Preparing the Chainwales. Here it shows you where the nail holes are positioned for the fixing of the metal straps, they are shown as white dots. To fit the cut down nails, pre-drill the nail holes using a 0.7mm drill, this will make the insertion of the nails a lot easier. You may also find this link useful, it will help with the actual positioning of the chainwales.... https://forum.model-spac...aspx?g=posts&t=3323
Hope this helps... Regards Alan
