Here is my completed build for the 2017 build of the year competition.

The Baikonur Cosmodrome is the worlds first and largest operational space launch facility. Many historic flights started at this cosmodrome including the launch of Sputnik,Luna1, Yuri Gargarin, and Valentina Tereshkova (the first woman in space).
The cosmosdrome has been scaled back in recent years, but it still has 2 Proton launch complexes with 2 pads each. One is used for international launches to ISS and the second is used for Russian Military launches.

The Soyuz rocket is the most frequently used launch vehicle in thew world. The word Soyuz means "union" in Russian.Soyuz rockets have been used more than 1700 times and the rocket is known for its reliability and low cost.

The kit used to model the launch complex was LVM studios resin and photoetched kit. This is a highly detailed kit with 13 frets of photoetched parts for the towers and resin parts for the base and tower base.Construction of the kit was a bit fiddly due to the small size of many of the photoetched parts. It was also a bit of a challenge folding some of the larger parts.I decided to solder the larger pieces rather than use glue because the contact points were very small and I knew I would be handling the large and fragile photoetched towers.

The rocket is New Ware Soyuz R7 kit.this is a resin kit with some photoetched detail parts.

So here is the finished model.Best of luck to all entrants for the 2017 build of the year competition.

Brilliant finish Carl.

The model looks so complex with all that etch and i must say how impressed i was seeing you work with all that metal - very skilfully put together.

Its turned into a very nice display piece that anyone would be very proud to have out together.

Very good luck with your 2017 entry
Happy Modelling

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

Micheal,
it is about 10 inches in diameter with the base and stands about 14 inches tall.
