Good evening from 'The Dockyard',

This weeks update of my U230 U-Boat build log continues with the painting of the compartments.

The attached photo shows the Aft Torpedo Compartment/Motor Room masked up ready for painting in the sky grey i mentioned last week. Prior to this i marked out a pencil guideline to mask too.

This photo shows the Engine Room masked up, looking foreward. I used two different types of Tamiya masking tape; 6mm and a 3mm type which is suited to bending around curves.

This photo shows two coats of sky grey applied to the Aft Torpedo Compartment/Motor Room. I was happy with the even coverage after two coats so i left it at that.

I then moved onto what will become a cut away view of No.2 Battery Compartment.

There wasn't that much 'bleed through' when the masking tape was removed with a minimal amount of 'touching in' required.

Looking aft into the Aft Torpedo Compartment.

I'm happy with the way the painting turned out, what with two colours and the numerous t-frames to mask around.

That concludes this weeks update. Next week I will be completing the Engine Room and No.2 Battery Compartment plus any other painting I can fit in.

As I mentioned in a reply to Mark, another couple of weeks should see all of the compartments painted up. Got to be honest, it's taken a lot longer than I initially thought.

All that hard work is paying off with a great finish.

It might be taking longer than expected but you cannot rush perfection.

I cannot believe the incredible upgrade you have made to the base kit - its really exceptional.
