Hi again Phil, I had a good look at that website, they have really done their homework. I definitely recommend any body who wishes to illuminate their models to check them out. My only problem is that living in South Africa, with an exchange rate of almost 20:1, compounded by an unreliable postal service, these items become are just too costly. I have to make do with what is locally available. But, thanks again. Kind regards, Garth "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. Hi All, To add more light, I made 3 more lanterns. I tried a different approach on the wiring this time. I used scrap ribbon cable recovered from an old PC hard drive. This worked much better than the armature wire. In addition, I fitted a tiny piece of heat shrink around the LED to prevent it shorting on the lanterns body. As with the other lanterns, I applied a blob of clear silicone sealer to the back of the LED and pushed it into the lantern. It’s important to leave this to dry for a couple of hours. This method worked much better, the entire assemblies seemed much tougher and there was no ‘flickering’ once all was soldered!!! Whilst the soldering iron was out, I used the opportunity to neaten up the wiring, fit the input wires and the wires that will connect the second decks ‘Buzz Bars’. Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. On hold: Bismarck, Golden Hind, Flying Scotsman, Victory Cross Section, SOTS, Tiger 1. Wish list: USS Constitution.

Hi All Now for a bit of fun. I have always wanted to have some skeletons in the cells and I finally was able to get my hands on some suitable candidates. To make the candle, I used a piece of 0.75mm fibre optic. I made a projector using some of off-cut styrene tube with a 3mm LED and the 0.75 Fibre Opric hot-glued into each end. I cut the optic at an angle to look like a flame and used some old GW Yellow Ink to change the colour of the LED. I made a table of sorts then drilled a 1mm hole through for the Fibre Optic. The projector and wires are tacked to the underside of the deck with hot glue. A note on gluing Fibre Optics. Do some tests first as most solvent based glues damage the Fibre Optic and it can snap. Use epoxy or hot glue to glue them. Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. On hold: Bismarck, Golden Hind, Flying Scotsman, Victory Cross Section, SOTS, Tiger 1. Wish list: USS Constitution.
