Today I managed to complete stage 17 where we add 2 x 2mm shaped strips to be base of the bulwarks. For this stage it is recommended you shape the two strips using the Micro Shaper set available as an optional extra from the online shop. There are two sets, Ref 27300 and 27301. For this stage we require the centre shaper from set 27300.... http://www.model-space.c...b/micro-shaper-set.html
Once the two strips have been shaped I then stained them using a medium oak woodstain. Cut the strips to size and when happy with the fit I then mitred the ends to make neat joins around the ribs. Next stage we start assembling some of the cannons so until then, happy building all..... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Thanks again to everyone who looked in and for the kind comments.... Even though the run up to xmas is proving to be the usual busy time am happy to say I still found some time to progress the build a little further.. Next stage has us assembling cannons and started by removing the ply parts from their fret and cleaning all the cut edges from burnt ash. Glued the base and carriage sides in place ensuring they were set correctly and left to dry. Then turned the carriage over and using a small round file, created the two channels in the base to accommodate the wheel axles... Axles are cut from 0.8mm brass wire, cut into 20mm lengths and glued into position centrally using superglue gel. Glued the wheels in place, gluing the wheels to the sides of the carriage and once set, the axles were then trimmed and filed to leave them protruding slightly. Word of caution here, when trimming the axles ensure you wear eye protection as the cut ends can fly off with great speed and cause serious injury to your eyes that would definitely ruin your day..... Glued the small triangular gun support in position and once done repeated the whole process until I had 10 identical carriages... Took the 10 cannons and as with any castings, filed and cleaned away any cast lines and imperfections. Inserted cocktail sticks to aid painting. Next step is to prime everything ready for painting so until next time, happy modelling..... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):
