I am nearly ready to plank the hull but am confused by the matter of Margin Plank (They call it the waterway) extending 2mm beyond plywood sub deck of bow area (I have already done this). I realise this is the thickness of of a hull plank and therefore provides a smooth transition between hull and bulwark at the bow area BUT instruction for fitting bulwark are " to glue and nail the bulwarks just on top of the first "plate" (plank). This would mean a step up of 1 mm when, if this 2 mm wasn't there , a smoother curve of bulwark could be attained without any gaps. Am I missing something here ??? Grateful for any help from those who have passed this stage of the building progree.

Hi there, I see you have posted the same question again in a different part of the forum, that post will be deleted and your query will be answered here in your original post. Looking at the instructions I can see where your confusion may lay simply because the instructions do not say you will need to sand back the 2mm overhang later in the build to give a neat join between the deck and the hull planking strakes. I have attached a blown up pic of the area in question and you can see the hull plank meeting the deck. Glue the walnut waterways as instructed leaving the 2mm overhang and sand the edge back when you come to fit the top plank on the hull to give you a neat join. Hope this helps... Please come back to me if you require any further assistance with this... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):
