Another theory as to the reasons the Titanic sank will be claimed in a new documentary. Claims fire in one of the boiler rooms was blazing when she set sail from Southampton and was a major factor in the disaster.... http://www.dailymail.co....t-sail-Southampton.html

Hmm not sure about this one! Take the thickness of the hull, extreme heat on the inside and the cold water outside, the plates would have buckled way before impact and would have been letting water in.

Will be interesting to see what evidence the documentary reveals to support the theory... Like you Nem, I'm not convinced... at least not yet..... Regards Alan

never a fire kids,
Proven years ago that the ship had serious damage from tugboats in harbor. SOMEHOW the hull got damaged, and the pumps had to be turned on.
Just a submarine after that moment.

Never heard about the Titanic suffering hull damage but her sister ship Olympic was in collision with the cruiser HMS Hawke and suffered some damage. Now there is a "conspiracy theory" that says the white star line switched the nameplates and sailed the olympic under the Titanic banner in order to pull off an insurance fraud. There was a tv programme recently about the fire in one of the coal bunkers. Made for an interesting programme. It never suggested the fire caused the sinking but some of the problems the fire caused did add to the problems. Happy Modelling

There were differences between all three sister ships this nonsense was firmly rebuffed some time ago. along with the aliens that hid it on the dark side of the moon!
the internet is letters with idiots making rubbish up and it is ver disrespectful to the people that were there and the victims of this type of stuff. I wonder how Neil Armstrong felt about his bravery being turened into a lie by people.
disgusting really.

Jase[/quote] According the biography I read on Armstrong he didnt really care what the public thought about his lunar exploration. Now Buzz Aldrin on the other hand took serious offense at the fake moon landing conspiracy theorists. He even punched one of them in the face when he confronted him and accused him of faking the moon landings. Interesting to see how they both responded to the guy (Bart Sibrel) Here is Neils interaction; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGqZj5dci_M
And here is Buzz Aldrin with the same reporter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyaPfTjvV8s

Well the only "fire in a coal bunker" theory I have ever heard of was in referral to the USS Maine when it sank in Cuba,,,,
apparently big fire in a coal bunker burned next to a magazine caused fire in magazine and resulting explosion. Apparently the big explosion was not caused by a torpedo or underwater bomb, although it was cute that the US Navy when it was able too, spared no expense to raise the wreck and take it out to see where it was basically impossible to investigate it with normal technology until the 1970s.
