Hi Wallace!
Are you planning to paint?
If so don't worry if the planking is a bit rough a layer of wood filler pressed in to any gaps, dips or other problem areas followed by a good sanding will get the hull ready for primer then paint later in the build.
If you wanted a wood finish the first layer is only to get the shape right, thin wood veneer 0.5mm or 0.6mm planks can be shaped then go on top so easy it covers up many mistakes, that's why I think this build should have been done this way in the first place.
Single planking is OK if you have the skill to get it right first time, a lot of first time builders have problems with the planking around the bow and stern, the magazine gave you the basics then left you to it.
So much detail on planking the upper hull, I was amazed at how little there was on the lower hull. This was the part you need good clear instructions. It is a lot of money to chuck away just because you find it’s not clear what you need to do! All the builds will be a little different and that is a problem. We should have had a section on how to spot problems and then how to correct them.
I hope you get there in the end and you feel happier about your build soon the hard part is nearly done now and thing are getting explained better with more detail.
Just think if only there was a person in your area that could have shown you how to get going you would have had an easier time of it.
Keep your chin up mate!
