Hi shipmates I'm just posting this to let you know that there is a completed model of our Victory on display in Norfolk. It is the Artesina Latina version which is, I believe, the version our part-work is based on. I found it purely by chance after talking with a plumber who had called in to give us a quote for fitting a new bath and he saw the model that I was building. He told me about this model shop which is reputed to be one of the largest in Europe, if not, the world. Fortunately, I live close by, so I went up to take a look, not so much because of the Victory (he never mentioned that) but because they have on display a model of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise which is nearly 20 feet long from stem to stern, which piqued my curiosity. Anyway, as I say, I found our Victory purely by chance while heading back to the main entrance of the shop. It was my partner who drew my attention to it and when I spotted it I was lost in admiration. What a beauty she is, I only wish I had taken my camera with me. It was almost a mystical moment when one sees before his eyes the fulfillment of his imagination in real life, right there in front of him. Now I see how stunning Vic will look when she is finally finished and on dislay. If any one is interested in taking a look themselves when they are in the area the shop is called "Model Expo Shop" and is situated at Snetterton racetrack in Norfolk, where a large Sunday market is also held. Snetterton is on the main A11 trunk road between Thetford and Norwich and there is a large intersection which takes you directly onto the site. It really is worth a look you ever find youself in the area happy building and warmest regards Daffy09

Sorry to dampen your enthusiasm Daffy, but what you saw was most certainly not the partwork Victory on display. If as you say it was an Artesania Victory, then it was the normal kit version seen rather than being the partwork version, though similar they are not the same

Are you saying that our part-work build will be radically different from the 'pattern'. It was just really good to see what our build will look similar to - apart from some minor differences - when she is completed. And to MWG, yes, I am hoping to go back at some point with my camera if the shop will allow me to photograph it

Daffy you've stolen my thunder, I was there today and saw the model I know its the kit as it was displayed in front of it, but to us mere mortals, it is the same as the partwork in all but some minor differences that only an expert would notice, in fact if you look closely enough it could be the model shown on the front of the magazines, even down to the small nail holes you can sometimes see on the cover. I'm not sure if I am correct, but I'm sure I've read that the model shown in the initial info, and that on the front cover is not necessarily the one we are actually building, so if you like me can't see the difference between the kit and the part work, then this model does show what Victory will (almost) look like. Did you see the other one Daffy? It was a completed painted model on sale for £1350, it was beside the large boat, in the Enterprise hall Come on you Jimmies

Lee I'll certainly do that for you Lee, but it may be a while before I get the chance to visit the shop again. I have to fit it in with my partners' work rota and my health allowing to get out. Happy building

I agree with your comments entirely. Yes, we did see the other version when we went for a cup of tea, a very nice model but looked tiny compared to our build. That other ship was superb, glad we,re not builing one that size, I'd need a new house. It was fantastic though, any idea what she is as I didn't see a name plaque anywhere. I assumed she was some sort of Spanish ship of their line.

So here is a link to the for sale Victory I am particularly attracted by these features "The final product is a beautiful authentic wooden aircraft. Every model comes with its own desk stand. All the propellers are made of wood and will rotate. Some of the jets come with movable swing wings, also made of wood." I feel sure that Nelson would have liked some of those at Trafalgar!!
