BigGrin Awesome engine sound as it starts up the engine came from the first Ferrari Grande Prix winning car:-

The Arno XI is a hydroplane inspired by Achille Castoldi in the early 1950s and built by the Cantiere Timossi boatyard, located in Azzano (a frazione of Mezzegra) on the Lake Como. Castoldi wanted to establish a world water speed record so he persuaded then Ferrari racing drivers Alberto Ascari and Luigi Villoresi to influence Enzo Ferrari to supply him with a 4.5-litre, V12 Ferrari engine; the same engine that gave Ferrari his first Grand Prix victory with the Ferrari 375 F1 at the Silverstone Circuit in 1951.

Castoldi then pushed the power even higher:-

By attaching two superchargers he managed to further increase the horse power. The result was a 502 bhp speedboat, which he used to hit a 150.19 mph top speed in October 1953 on Lake Iseo. That remains the world speed record for an 800 kg boat till today.

After it was restored it was sold at auction and now resides in the Ferrari museum:-

BigGrin Hi All

The drive shaft cover was sprayed red and then the etch and gear stick added along with the engine rear being sprayed aluminium.

The body has been sprayed Rosso Red ,the decals added and then clear coated. the cockpit wooden liners were added along with the fuel tank. I have started to add the chrome strips to the body.

More soon.

The red paint and the decals look fab, am guessing the main work in the boat kit is the detailing and prep of the hull, do you plan to stud it as per the real thing?

BigGrin Hi everyone thanks for looking in and your comments.

They provide a full size plan of the boat in the kit but it has not got the nail pattern on itCrying . So I have been searching for pictures of the real thing and am now plotting the screw pattern onto the plans.

More soon .
