Evening everyone.
I have a kind of silly question here. What is the best way to mount a completed ship on the 2 pillars and the mounting boards (specifically the AL kits)?
For the first two boats I completed I just glued them on, but for some extra strength, I inserted a brass rod through part of the keel, the pillars and the board. All good and well for the Viking Longboat and the Swift 1805 which are relatively small. It's probably best for the bigger ones to make your own mounts.
Any thoughts?

For my Cutty Sark I drilled 2 M4 clearance holes into the false keel at the points where the mounting pillars are required and then I embedded 2 M4 nuts in the false keel these lining up with the 2 holes. Doing this the model can be fixed to a suitable display board.
I found this method in the 'Period Ship kit Builders Manual' by Keith Julier. This book contains all the info to build period ship models and I feel a good investment.
Hope this helps you
