Day 2 of the biggish buildWell after a sleep and much deliberation I came to the conclusion it was best to start with Issues 25,26,27,28 ... I cleared the floor again in anticipation of re-filling it plastic bags once again ... re-magnetised the screwdriver (my that didn't last long) , and then took the toughest decision of the day .... The first plastic entity of the day would be Mr Potato Head R2D2 ... start with the big guns to get the audience gripped ! Those of you that feel I am not taking this blog thing to seriously may be on to something The more observant/ anoraky of you may notice that the leg on issue 28 looks like the wheel housing is back to front ... you would be correct, where were you when I was building this ? In my constant quest for droid Navarra I weep for joy at the chance to bring you issues 33,34,35 and 36 ! And for a bit of comic relief , this sections assistant will be Disney Stores very own BB8 PhilC attached the following image(s): SOME MORNINGS IT JUST DOESN'T SEEM WORTH IT TO GNAW THROUGH THE LEATHER STRAPS

You’re cracking on with things very nicely, although with all those assistants I’m not suprised. Mark

Well this is the best 4 issues since issue number 36 ...please put your hands together for issues 37, 38, 39, 40 ... note the cutting pliers were used to trim the plastic "Covers" to create the flat side ... as only round ones were provided .... THERE IS NO NEED TO DO THIS ... flat edged ones are provided in a later issue ... beggar , bit of a %@£* up there Deagostini ! Following the great and established tradition I will be assisted by yet another version of R2D2. Well hot the surprise success of the previous issues the inevitable follow on issues 41, 42, 43 & 44 .... including the laughable issue 42 , that contained absolutely no assembly/build whatsoever , basically place two bits of metal leg support in the same general area of each other , no securing , just place together ! And along for the ride today is a model Stormtrooper, can't shoot straight for toffee, but they do look cool PhilC attached the following image(s): SOME MORNINGS IT JUST DOESN'T SEEM WORTH IT TO GNAW THROUGH THE LEATHER STRAPS

Well you'll be pleased to hear we are down to the last 4 in the build now , 46, 47, 48, 49 in all their technicolour marvel ... time to rest those blistered fingers , tired eyes and clean up the plastic detritus that I am surrounded by. And for company this build was Deagostini's very own R2D2 USB drive PhilC attached the following image(s): SOME MORNINGS IT JUST DOESN'T SEEM WORTH IT TO GNAW THROUGH THE LEATHER STRAPS

Well finally, after 2 days build all my back issues have been completed, to be honest glad I left them to do them on block, doing so has only just affirmed that some of the issues would have only taken a few minutes, if that. Think I'll be doing the same again ... however, after getting the Dome I think I may just do a batch build when the dome is all complete SOME MORNINGS IT JUST DOESN'T SEEM WORTH IT TO GNAW THROUGH THE LEATHER STRAPS

Day 3 of the big build (things beginning to shape up !) Well tackled this in the same way as I did the other stages, wanted to wait until the majority of the dome was complete before I started the build, so with the stack of unopened mags piling up in the corner of the room I decided the time had come .... so in the next few posts I shall be tackling issues 49 to 69 ... eye's down , pictures loading, here we go ! Issues 49 - 52Well it's been a while but it's not like you are going to forget how to use a screwdriver ! And to make sure I didn't go mad I was joined by my two friends Pez R2 & Pez Stormtrooper. Not much to report from the first 4 issues, introduced to the double sided tape !!! We've had our ups and downs, I won't lie, it's not always been a happy relationship, not had major problems attaching the tape, however pealing off the brown backing strips has sometimes been .... well let's say a challenge ! Oh the other thing of note is the "sensor adjustment facilitating attachment" (ie the little bit of clear plastic), be careful not to bin it as it's easy to miss .... as I follow the official build on her I was aware it was coming , so only attached the two screws on the foot plate in the first place. Issues 53-56 Getting Warmed Up Again ! Well back into the swing of things again, issue 53 ... the big tests ! Well after reading a few of the report backs from this issue I was a bit apprehensive about the task ahead. Firstly wire up the circuit boards to the power pack ... no issues there, now to test the lightsabre ejector tube ! Nothing, Nadda, Zip ... beggar not a good start. Frantically keep on pressing the buttons in the vain hope that they were a little slow getting started ... still all quiet, dam you R2 why did you have to carry Lukes lightsabre, why couldn't you just had a spork attachment instead ? Took the boards apart and rewired, just in case I had wired something up wrong, made sure the connections on the ejector were solid, and gave the motor a severe slapping ... connected all backup and tentatively pressed again ... Bingo ! Sorted ! Put that spork down R2 you won't be needing that now ! Now brimming with a new found confidence I pushed on with the leg sensor tests .... light were a flashing where they should, colours were a changing as expected, oh yes ! mission accomplished, I might just have a moving and stopping droid in the making here. After that worrying issue, the following ones were a welcome breeze, even those god awful tape bits , with their unpeelable backings ! Oh and where are my manors, I like to introduce you to Bobble Headed, Monitor Minder, Bobble Fett ! Issue 57-60 Oh yes well past half way now !Well issues 57-60 were pretty uneventful, I did as instructed, when instructed and had no major issues, well apart from those double-sided strips ... why DeAgostini ? WHY ? Keeping me entertained for the next 4 issues I give you Groot .... feel free to look at the pictures, they're not much different to all the others you have seen in the Builders Diaries, but feel free to humour me & tell me how good it's looking. Issues 61-64 Getting Closer To Using Those Parts We Have Been Trying Not To Lose Since Issue 1Firstly I would like to apologise for the lack of inanimate plastic help for the next 4 issues, due to some oversight of union rules & holiday entitlements my vinal sci-fi toys will be unable to join us this time, talks are in progress to ensure their future attendance. Well the next few issues is mostly about getting those panels in, still dread it everytime I have to attempt to remove the backing from those infuriating tape strips, also trying to be careful not to pop the old panels off when pressing home the new ones ... however, it's all worth it to see R2 taking shape. Wish I'd marked the two processor state lights to distinguish the two , took a while to figure out which was which, only difference is the moulding around the screw holes , the one is flush the other is indented slightly ... The lightsabre panel feels a little lose, but opens and closes fine , will keep my eye on that as it develops and see if it needs adjusting. Those plastic alan bolts for the panels are a little soft , have to be careful not to cross thread then when putting them in, and too much pressure causes the alan key to turn in the bolt head without tightening it. Issue 64 is definitely the one that we have all been waiting for , lightsabre lid attached, dome finally attached to the frame, and many of the electrical components installed in the head .... and finally, I have a tip, get a shorter screwdriver, it can be done will the one provide , but it is a major ballache Still with every addition it looking better !
