BigGrin Hi Jase

Im glad you like the build so far as for the paint I used Lifecolours: IJN Hinoki Deck Tan from there camouflage series of colours.

Its a little darker than Tamiya deck tan but I knew the oils used in the weathering would lighten the tone.

Hi Andy
Didn’t know anything about this kit, so I ‘googled’ it. What an absolute stunner Love Love
You really look to be doing it justice Cool

BigGrin Hi Gray

The wingnut kits are the brainchild of Peter Jackson of LOTR fame who had a private passion for accurate model kits of 1st WW model kits that he could build for himself.

Link here to know more:-

http://www.hyperscale.co...res/wwinterviewdw_1.htm

The detail makes these kits easy to build straight from the box with just rigging wires and paint to make a nice build.

Thanks for looking in and your comments.

I always wondered if that is why these kits are so cheap.it is more of a hobby for Peter Jackson. They used to offer free shipping for New Zealand and they are priced way too cheaply for the quality of the kits in my opinion.

He apparently has a 1955 poster hung in his office of the original Dambusters movie and is a great aviation fan. Cool

BigGrin Hi All

The engine was made up and then sprayed with ALclad II after that the ignition wires were added and a wash was used on the engine.

Masked up the underwings ready for the chocolate brown upper surfaces, once the brown was dry more masking of the front fuselage area to add the grey paint.

I have now started to add the decals before some more weathering is done.

More soon

BigGrin Hi All

The decals were added to the wings and ailerons and then the ailerons fitted to the wings, you can see the difference in colour with the unweathered ailerons.

The engine was glued in position and the cowl added after the decals were applied.

The rest of the fuselage decals were added at this point a great deal of small tags were applied after the large decals.

The decals will be left for 24 hours to dry out and then weathering will commence.

More soon.
