Good Evening from 'The Dockyard'.

I took a break from modelling last week due to the holiday period and this week I have continued with the pin wash on the hull.

In retrospect I applied too much of the pin wash and now I find it's taking me a while to reduce it back, so this particular part of the build will definitely run into next week. Blink

The attached photo shows a trusty cotton bud, doused in thinners and about to enter retirement.

This is the port aft [rear left] side of the hull, pin wash completed and excess removed. I'm very happy with the result as it really ties all the colours together and accentuates the rivets.

Well that concludes this weeks very short update, but you get the idea.

I'm determined to pick up the pace and get the whole boat finished in this way by my next update.

On another note I have ordered a U-boat lighting kit from Small Scale Lights. They produce LED's, wiring, bulbs and all things lighting for dolls houses and train layouts to name just two. On a recent visit to their website I discovered that they had added a new product line; a U-boat lighting kit. This kit is designed for the Trumpeter kit and as this u-boat is the same scale and type as my mine i decided to add my name to the waiting list. It's a bit of a punt to be honest and I just hope that I don't have to do too much modifying or rewiring. Fingers crossed.! Blink

Pin wash has turned out well,

I think the lighting kit will make such a big difference
