Hi all,
I know that most of you are well past the planking stage. But for anyone who, like me, is still planking, here are a couple of tips which have worked for me.
1. If you are using the plank benders, which have been the only useful tool in the kit, once you have run down the plank with the benders, go back down the plank with the benders making little Xs. XXXXXXXXXXXX I have found that this makes a nicely soaked plank very twistable. Which is handy for the stern.
2. When glueing the planks to the frame, I have been using wood glue, like everyone else. But at the very ends, where planks meet, I have been using a dab of superglue. (good quality superglue though). This means that the joints dry very quickly. And means the planks are secure quicker. Like having an extra pair of hands. While pinning.
Hope these prove uselful.
Thanks
Jim
