My grandfather worked at NASA on the Mercury and Apollo rockets as well as the boosters for the shuttle. He was the kind of person who didn’t brag or was overly proud of the work he did. It was just his job, he did his work and went home to his family. So whenever he got any kind of certificates, awards, or anything else in appreciation of the work he did, he just tucked it away in a cabinet to collect dust. Only one piece was ever put out on display and my grandmother had to beg him to do that. At some point in time when I was a teenager my grandmother was given permission to give me all of the stuff he didn’t want. So I have had some of this stuff for a while. After he passed away she found a envelope of more stuff. A stack of black and white photos from the first manned space flight. I have those as well. The only two items I don’t have are the peice she has on display and a signed photo that my dad currently has. Not going to post everything but figured I would share a few of my favorites. Certificate of participation for Apollo 8 & 11. Apollo 11 flight log. Some various pins he had. The 20 anniversary of Apollo 11 reunion packet. And my favorite, his Space Shuttle crew jacket. It's strange how you find people with such fantastic/cool job like he has had, are laid back about their work as though it's like any other regular job. Amazing and thank you for sharing some pictures. Mark

Very cool Joel, I have been at kennedy space center a few times and it is very impressive. It must have been awesome to help build the rockets and then watch them fly into space. When I worked on Long Island I was right next to Grummans facility and I had a few older clients that had worked on the lunar lander. It is true they were very modest and thought it was just a job.Had some fascinating discussions with them Carl
