So it begins. My kit arrived in just 4 days - pretty fast shipping I must admit. DonB attached the following image(s):

I was not sure what to do for a work surface and finally settled on a combination of layers. First I rolled out a layer of grip and stick shelf liner. I then added a layer of self-adhesive cork. Seems to be nice and stable but time will tell. DonB attached the following image(s):

well the first couple of phases were a bit of a challenge. I had to deal with warped pieces of wood which made the whole process of aligning the ribs a painful process. In the end I think I've overcome the issues. File Attachment(s): 3.jpg (451kb) downloaded 90 time(s).

stage 5 complete. I decided to no sand the inside. I think this gives it a bit more of an authentic feel. I could be wrong but I like it anyway. DonB attached the following image(s):

Very nice work. Looks really good, one tip for you.
Try to keep the spacer/support at the top of the frames in place whenever your not working on her as it tends to open up slightly over time. Then when you come to put the upper deck beams in place the gap is too wide.
Chris On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.
