PACK 6

There is quite a lot to do in this pack of parts if you wish to enhance your model so the build here will be split into 3 sections:

1: Exhaust
2: Interior floor
3: seats

The exhaust and heat exchangers can now be assembled and fitted to the car.
Once in place, the screw holes can be filled if you wish and the parts repainted silver.
After this, weathering can be added using a mix of matt black and white spirit lightly washed over, followed by a similar mix using matt brown, once the black wash is fully dry.

2: Interior floor.

The model is based on one of the very first 911 cars – possibly even the prototype. These cars had no carpeting on the inside which is why the kit provides none.
However, if you wish to add carpeting to make the model look a little more detailed and ‘finished’, then follow the steps as shown.

Begin by making paper templates of the different parts of the floor.
Cut pieces of paper roughly to shape, hold in place on the desired area and draw quite firmly with a pencil into the edges, pushing the paper into place with the pencil point as you go.

Trim the template and test fit. You will probably need to fit and trim several times.

Once your template is correct, apply it to the back of your carpet.
Self-adhesive dolls house carpet available via Ebay is ideal and very cheap.

You could change your interior colour here if you wish.

Cut out your piece of carpet and carefully apply it to the floor in the order shown in the pictures.
REMEMBER – For opposite side parts the templates will need to be flipped over.

The various holes needed in the floor can be cut in when you have fitted all the carpets pieces.

3: SEATS

The seats as supplied in the kit are well detailed but they do lend themselves to being trimmed in real leather.
The surface detail of the pleats will be lost but there’s nothing quite like the look of genuine leather on the interior of a large scale model.

SEAT PART TEMPLATES ARE POSTED IN THE PICTURES BELOW.
COPY AND RESIZE UNTIL THE SEAT SQUAB EDGE IS 175MM LONG.

The seats should be assembled in the order as shown in the pictures, not as per the instructions. This will make the trimming easier.

Use ONLY very thin (0.5mm) leather, obtainable from several suppliers.
You can PM me for further help if you get stuck finding leather.

Again, you could completely change your interior colour if you wish.
Make sure that you use a very high quality double sided tape. Cheaper tapes will let the leather come loose over a period of time. ‘Gorilla’ or ‘Mammoth’ tapes are both very good.

The seat backs are a little more complicated to trim but not difficult.
Just follow the order of build in the pictures, not in the kit instructions and make sure you clear all access to the screw holes as you go.

Later on, other parts of the car interior such as the door panels and dash top will be trimmed in leather or carpeted.
