Hi All I am at the early stage of building at the moment issue 25 completed and am still deciding on the finish I am leaning towards the painted version now I have read about the color change on the real ship and this does confuse things a bit but aside from that living in South Africa as I do paints have become a serious issue and I have not found anything so far I know I can get them from the UK but the shipping in most cases is the same cost as the paints so a set of paints could cost me upwards of 50 pounds or so and with the current exchange rate of about Rands 15 to the pound and import taxes and vat it is a nightmare then if I run out of a color it becomes a problem to get another and so forth so after all that has anyone used either Tamiya or Humbrol paints on their Victory and if so what colors or mixes did you use these paints are widely available here so thats why I mention these two only, other South Africans or Aussies may have had simlar problems. maybe stain and varnish is the way to go as there is a lot of makes and brands available.Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated Regards Trevor If my ship's going down,I'm bloody well getting off

To assist in the matching up of paints available from various manufacturers you may find downloading the paint conversion chart from this site... I use this chart and find it provides information for most of my needs.... http://www.paint4models.com/
Hope it helps.. Regards Alan

Thanx I did read that prior to posting and it would seem here our best options are some paints by Tamiya and others Artists Aychrilics in tubes by the likes of Winston & Newton or simlar some colors in their range are a match like yellow ochre, red ochre Tamiya have quite a few blacks ie flat, gloss, semi gloss, red lead etc so I will have to make a list Regards Trevor If my ship's going down,I'm bloody well getting off

Have found these paints to be good, they do require thinning down as well. Not sure if you can get these in your neck of the woods.. Regards Alan
