I built this kit last year and strange to say, I found it quite unsatisfying.

It was brilliantly engineered, went together like a dream and looked great.
Somehow the whole thing was a bit uninvolving though.
It was like screwing Meccano together.

Interesting you say that. There is a discussion ongoing on a Model Factory Hiro Facebook group comparing Tamiya to MFH.The general consensus is that the MFH are much more challenging builds, but the effort is part of the appeal rather than the Tamiya range which generally falls together without much struggle.

I can understand that argument but I prefer my stuff to fall together. Sometime I build stuff as stress release. I usually pick kits that aren’t challenging. Doesn’t mean I don’t like a challenge now and then.

DeAgostini kit builds:

Millennium Falcon: 18% Complete
Shelby GT-500: 28% Complete
Thunderbird 2: 13.75% Complete

I hear you Joel. I find the tamiya kits and increasingly the Deagostini kits quite relaxing builds.I often alternate between a Deagostini kit and a more challenging one so when the challenging one is getting to me I give myself a break. I started the MFH 1/12 Tipo 158 (Andy just built it in 1/20 scale), but I stopped because it was very challenging to get everything to line up properly.I plan to tackle it again at some point this year.

Hi Roy, is it the same kit though? Says new, so thought must have been re-tooled.

BigGrin Hi Gray

Its a limited edition of the original kit so no upgrades as its just a new boxed version of the old kit with the same content.

Bet there's a few guys on flea-bay spitting feathers as there £400 original kits just took a nose dive.

It’s a limited re-issue if the original BDR kit - ie no changes or additions. You can stil find the original kit on eBay for around £350-400 and also the Cycle Fender and JPE versions.
