Hi guys,
Can anyone recommend a good 1/24 scale ME109 kit? Went to local model shop and he had a 1/24 Airfix for £45 but was discontinued model. I know the Trumpeters are roughly double, but is it twice the kit?

All help gratefully received BigGrin

There are some useful kit reviews of the 1:24 Me109s that are available here Gray:

https://www.scalemates.c...ic=Messerschmitt+Bf+109

The current Airfix offering (in the red box) is a very dated moulding that was released way back in the 1970s, just dressed up in new packaging, but is not a very good model in my opinion and quite basic in detail. I wouldn't waste my money on that one nor the old MPC release which is just the same old Airfix moulding repackaged by a different company. The Trumpeter kits seem to be good, accurate with nice detail and the reviews on that site are quite complimentary towards them, so probably worth the extra expense. There appears to be some aftermarket items available too if you want to take it a bit further?

Hope that helps? ThumpUp

Hi Kev,
Thanks for the info, yes it certainly does help. I just thought it sounded cheap, and i guess i know why now.

For a very good detailed 'out of the box' build you will struggle to better the Cyber-Hobby's 109E-4. I think Eduard do an etch set for it too if you want to go full on detail.

Hi Jase, agreed that does look good Love , but would prefer 1/24 scale. Guess there’s not that many manufacturers at that scale. Surely you must have had one of these in your ‘stash’, Jase? BigGrin . Was that the one you built?
