Hi Gerrit
A warm welcome from a cold Kempton Park. Do not worry how long your model takes to complete. Our English friends are way ahead, just take your time and enjoy it. It may be just the camera angle but on your 2nd last pic. some of the ribs do not seem to follow a smooth curve. Just check it out with a plank to check all is well.
But most of all enjoy and ask all the questions you need. There are many people on the forum very willing to help and advise us.
Regards Ray

Thank you all
Yes this is my first build. I saw the advert on TV and when I was walking in the mall with my wife I saw it and turned my wifes arm to subscribe. I really like building models. I normally buy the wooden builds from the Chinese malls that you push out of the wood. This is the very first actual major ship build. So far it is going well. I did check all the ribs with a plank. It took me two weekens of sanding to get all the ribs to follow a smooth curve.

Welcome Gerrit I am also at about the same speed as what you are, never fear. Our English friends are way ahead so we can learn from their mistakes and their tips. Trust me there are plenty. As everyone says, take your time and enjoy it is not a race, more about enjoyment. There are no stupid questions, but i have learnt that on this forum there is so much information and help, you never get stuck without a solution. Hi Gerrit. Patience is the name of the game, with time you will get the hang of it. See the reaction when you introduce your self hihi. Just think what reaction you will get when you ask a question. Good morning all It has been a slow build for me since work is taking all my time. Even have to work over weekends now. I managed to complete the first six layers of planking and marked the gun ports for cutting. Last night I completed one gun port. Thank you for all comments and help. All the best Gerrit

Hi Gerrit It’s the right way to do it, take your time. Only a suggestion, maybe you need to sandwich your keel, when you do planking without striating up your keel, the possibility is that your model will bend. Albatross, build in 1982 from plans. Hms Bounty, build in 1987 from plans. Duyfken, build in 1991 from plans Oosterland, build in 1998 from plans 2010 Hms Victory kit from Deagostini

Thanks Sietse I will check to make one this weekend or one evening. I saw that it is only a few square brackets on a piece of wood. Should not be to difficult to make it. If I am wrong then please correct me.

Just make sure that your base is flat, if it got a twist in it the whole exercise is for nothing. Angle iron ore Aluminum Angle can do the job. Regards Sietse. Albatross, build in 1982 from plans. Hi Gerrit The following link on the forum is very helpfull in making a jig. SoB has a grand jig which is fairly easy to make and you can use it for almost anything. I have and it works like a dream. http://forum.model-space...t.aspx?g=posts&t=812Rgds, Hans "It's okay to make mistakes. mistakes are our teachers - they help us to to learn, even if it is painfully" Current Build: Endeavour Cross section,D51 Completed: HMS Victory Under the bench: Endeavour x 2,Sovereign of the Seas, Akagi and The Black Pearl!HMS Victory Cross Section

Hi Hans
Thank you I am looking to doing something similar as SoB, except for the ropewalk since it is still far from using it. Thank you

Thanks Sietse That was something I had in mind to do. I do have the 50mm L Brackets and there should be a piece of wood lying around doing nothing.
Thank you

Hi Gerrit I also hav not done the ropewalk, maybe later. Tomick reckons you dont need it as Deag provides the rights sizes etc. i think it depends on how close to the original do you want it. At ths stage that is not important. I am just enjoying the build for myself.
