Not sure if anything like this has been mentioned but here is my suggestion.

I know there are a few rc models that de agostini do, but theyre all nitro. How about a good quality electric brushless motor fast le mans 24 road racer. Something like a 90s porche or jaguar? Or maybe even modelled after a more recent one? Must have that distinct le mans wedge type body shape though. It could be faithful to the original with high detail like other de agostini models, working headlights and tail lights etc, as well as full remote control and all the other usual stuff with suspension etc.

I mention electric as not everybody want loud nitro engines, and there is no electric rc models that de agostini make.

This would appeal to a huge market, car fans, le mans fans, rc fans etc. The magazines could contain lots of info from past famous winning teams and drivers, to car specs, info on the circuit its self and lots more.

I think there could be real potential for this as an interesting and engaging partwork.

Maybe even a just a static model with accurate interiors etc and opening doors, engines etc if de agostini didnt want to 0ersue the rc side of things. Rc would appeal heavily to me though.

Already a static display 1/8 Le Mans GT40 in the pipeline from Sister company Altaya..
http://cntrois.over-blog...-miniatures-presse.html

There won’t be an R/C Le Mans Partwork of any description, consumer research indicates it’s not viable in terms of volume be it Electric or Nitro. Le Mans is a niche area of motorsport that even many motorsport fans take little notice of these days.

Fair enough. I didnt know about the gt40 in the pipeline. Ill take a look at that, the gt40 was always a sexy car.

I get what your saying about general lack of interest these days if the races them selves, but everybody loves the look of the cars, i know i do.

Yeah i noticed only 1 issue was published a year ago. The plastic kit in that 2nd post looks ok, but i love the idea of having working lights etc too

I also prefer the quality of parts from the likes of de agostini as opposed to the airfix type kits on sprues. They never look or fit all that great in comparisson. No one can match the quality of parts from here imo. Like the recent porche carrera model. Quality is fantastic, im just not a fan of that particular car. The gt40 in gulf blue livery however, its an icon Love Love

Aahh ok, it just shows 1 issue on the website. Maybe just not updated with it bieng a test run. Its a shame many test runs fail, ill be honest, i never even hear about them. If more was done to advertise maybe more would get off the ground? But its a balancing act i suppose, nobody want to put loads of cash into advertising something that is not going to go to full run

Why assume it’s a fail? A test may not become a full release for years after being tested as it’s not always the case that it’s same year or next year., a release is when the market is right for the company to release the item rather than when customers might like it., for example the Hachette Bus was tested in 2015 and only just been released this year.

Oh wow! I never realised that. Ive never really known much about the product/market testing amd pre release side of things. Im usually only aware when something is fully released and marketed. How do people find out about market tests in the 1st place?

I cant believe a bus was so popular. Not my sorta thing. Does look a good model though.

Well in that case ill keep my fingers crossed! I do hope they release the gt40. Thanks for the info and chat tomick

Market tests are localised areas (not always the same) and done through newsagents, so it’s a case of seeing the title on sale or if a web site appears in conjunction as it’s not always the case there is a web page.

Aahh ok. Ive never seen any in areas i have lived, so that may be why. They always seem to be down south. I wonder if fhey ever get it wrong? Ie drop a trial in an area where nobody around that area is really interested i the particular subject, giving the companies a false meter? I understand using small areas to keep costs down etc. I can imagine it been very hard to get these things off the ground. Especially the associated stigma partworks have always had over the years.

Ive always had an interest with partworks evet since the late 80s as a child. My grandparents started me with a hachette production called 'how my body works' when i was 6. you built essentially a full human with removeable organs, a skeleton etc. It was recently re launched and modernised iirc. The one i did was more realistic, but the modern one was a lot more cartoon like in apperance. Then i moved on to treasures of the earth collecting hundreds of gemstones and minerals. All that got my imterest on watching documentaries on tv which i still enjoy now. Ive done the real robots from eaglemoss (i think it was them) you built an ai robot with sonar sensors light sensors and allsorts, the solar syatem orrerey when it was 1st launched, not the current re launch they have now. Then i moved to an electric rc subaru wrc, nitro momster truck. Then recently obviously r2 which im thoroughly enjoying (despite my odd hiccups) and redbull rb7, which is waiting to be finished when i get around to painting the shell.

So yeah, im just starting to think what i would like to do/see next. I enjoy rc stuff, and things that are a bit more complicated to do. Would like to do the falcon, but its just too big for my house atm. I think de agostini have the best in terms of models and things. Some of the ships look stunning, but i know i just dont have the skills or knowhow to do them justice, and i would end up making a mess of the intricate details. I also prefer these kits from partworks, mainly due to the ease, accuracy, the fact that a lot of stuff is pre finished too is great. You dont just got a little plastic thing, you get a fully interactive scale model etc.

Would love to see a Jaguar XJR14 (in Silk Cut colours) released as a partwork.
