My RB7 build is on hold as I wait for some replacement parts. The original where "lost" during my recent property move.

I decided that whilst waiting I would start another Challenge. I built the Occre Jupiter train which was an interesting build with some challenges, in particular the transfers. This model will make a good partner for the Jupiter and as I have two grandsons they can have one each in due course BigGrin BigGrin

I will be able to put to good use the skills I learnt when building the Jupiter.

No but they are not so fiddly as with the Jupiter and there are fewer so hopefully they will be less of a faff, time will tell.

Gil and I both built the sister train to this-the Jupiter. It seems like a simple kit with easy to follow instructions, but dont be fooled. These kits are very challenging to build.

I would look cool to put them face to face to recreate the golden spike ceremony at the conclusion of the transcontinentinal railroad.

Step one :-

Check all the parts have been received. They are well packed as with the Jupiter, I particularly like the compartmentalized plastic boxes for the smaller components and these will see further use for storage for other builds.

One thing I will not be using is the coil of brass wire. I find that any attempt to straighten them out is never successful, so as with the Jupiter I will use brass rods when I get to that stage.

Looking forward to this build

Parts A and B assembly completed.
Step 1) find the necessary components
Step 2) dry fit and adjust where necessary. I found some of the components a very tight fit and these needed easing
Step 3) Glue in place

Now this may seem straight forward mmm well there are some 11 sheets of components + the loose fittings. The parts are numbered alpha numerically i.e. A1 B2 C3 etc.
However not all same lettered parts are on the same sheet and they are not in any order. Also there are MDF,Plastic,Ply and Metal components and the diagrams do not clearly indicate what the components are made of.To save me some time I have listed all the components from the 11 sheets in alpha numerical order (excel spreadsheet) and indicated on which sheet they can be found.
I hope this will save me some time as the build progresses.

I cannot however fault the OcCre customer service. An EMail to find out what colour paint they used was replied to by return.

Next step is to paint parts A & B.

Yes it makes sense I guess when it comes to designing a new kit they can use parts from a previous kit to save development money.

Lots of components for this build. Have been waiting till I had a few for priming

This is now done and additional spraying and brush painting will follow shortly.

It is not clear from the build instructions (What instructions there are !) on some of the colours to use. I have decided to paint the face/spokes of the wheels but the reverse I will polish/burnish the metal using my dremil and leave it.

I must say how good the OcCre customer service is. Some of the metal component where damaged on receipt. One quick Email and replacement are on there way.

I have also made a display stand for the Rogers119. It is my intention to display this model with the Jupiter. The Jupiter stands on a bridge which will allow me to place the Rogers in front on a low level base I have constructed

The next stage will be the boiler
