I recently added this to my stash, just in case model space do a 100 years of the Luftwaffe competition at some point Flapper Flapper

In all seriousness 10 years ago Revell released the Arado AR196 B kit which received a lot of good press that had been on my wish list for some time so when revel released the 'B' version I caved and bought one. the kit is essentially the same other than the 'B' version has a single central float and wing stabilisers rather than the two floats of the the 'A' version.

Eduard have a 'Big Ed for the 'A' so hoping they will follow sure for the 'B' rather than throwing some etch away.

Anyhow lets take a look at the kit.

The box art shows the what the modeller is trying to achieve, some actual built model shots are included on the box edge.

The box is filled to the brim with 5 bags of plastic all but one bag has several sprue.

The canopy is made up of several clear parts which will allow for it to be modelled open or closed, although I get the feeling it could be a challenging assembly.

There is a large circular base included, helpful given the single float on this aircraft.

The inter fuselage frame is separate which ads to the realism and some display optionsWink There is some nice detail but I suspect that there is plenty of scope for both etch and resin improvements

There is some superb detail in places, particularly the float which has very nice rivet detail. there is 2 or 3 bad prop options and engine cowling that can be displayed open.

The wings on this plain swing back for storage in a ships hanger, and this kit gives you the option of modelling either wing open or closed.

The engine may be the star of the kit, there are many parts that builds up to a very detailed engine with some very fine casting.

The outer skin texture is good and with having the separate internal Fram the is defiantly an option to model the kit with damaged skin with a little bit of creativity

panel lines all seem to be pretty accurate from a quick cross reference, which gives you confidence in the research

There is a lot of parts to this kit, certainly not something you can bash out in a week or even a month.

The decal sheet is comprehensive, and includes the dials for the dash board.

The instructions are the usual Revel offering with detail build and paint at each stage. the pages are quiet busy but they are clear enough.

All in all I think its a great kit for the money retailing in the UK at around £35! Having said that I would not build this without an etch set as the insides defiantly need som extra detail.

The big Ed set from Eduard will knock you back about £50 so £85 all in

That's a shame Jase but i guess you have a lot going on anyway.
By the way, you don't have shares in a model shop by any chance do you LOL
I would love to see where you stash your 'stash'BigGrin. You must have your own warehouse.....
