T-72 Wi-Fi unit

The optional T-72 Wi-Fi unit is a video camera with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and a Wi-Fi sender/receiver.

The Wi-Fi unit is easy to fit and easy to use. It allows you to operate your T-72 Tank with your IOS or Android SmartPhone or Tablet at a distance of up to 30 metres, depending on the environment and weather conditions.

The Wi-Fi unit provides "first person view" to your mobile device, you can also save photos and video from the live feed displayed on your device screen in real time, as you are controlling the tank.

The Wi-Fi module is installed in the turret and is connected to the distribution board. Following the simple instructions, you can quickly connect the module into the Tank operating system. To activate the system, you just need to move the connectivity switch from 2.4G to Wi-Fi.

The optional Wi-Fi unit is available in the ModelSpace on-line shop:

Please see the Running Guide for further information.

Wi-Fi unit installation

Carefully remove the gunners cover from the tank turret, this is held in place by tabs at the sides and rear. Use a thin screwdriver to unhitch the tabs (being careful not to damage to the cover). Now lower the Wi-Fi unit into its holder in the turret and replace the cover making sure the Wi-Fi unit is located correctly within the cover, (it is located correctly if the cover is able to click into place).

Next, remove the upper hull from the lower hull by removing the 8 screws and then carefully detach the wiring leading to the upper hull from the lower hull.
To access the circuit board to plug in the cable 'Q' (provided with Stage 65), you must now remove the lower turret ring. Once this is done plug the 'Q' cable into its 'Q' marked socket on the circuit board.

Replace the turret ring and then plug the other end of the 'Q' cable into the socket on the base of the Wi-Fi unit. Replace all the cables from the turret into the lower chassis of the tank, then reassemble the lower and upper hulls, be careful not to trap any of the cables.

How to set up the Wi-Fi

Visit the App Store on your mobile device, then download the 'Radio Tank T-72' app., Then follow the instructions below...

1 - Switch ON the tank and make sure the Wi-Fi switch on the tank is set to Wi-Fi.

2 - Open settings on your mobile device, then open the Wi-Fi option, then search for the tank, it should say T-72 Tank (without internet connection) as your Wi-Fi source.

3 - Connect to Wi-Fi (without internet connection) by choosing that option.

4 - Open the app on the Phone, You may get a blue screen then a message saying 'connection lost – reconnect' choose this option and the app should go into camera mode.

5 - Once you have camera signal with the controls showing press the lower right start button to start your tank and off you go into Battle!
