Hi all. Yesterday I had to phone shiprights about an order I had placed which was late and we got talking about copper plates for the victory. The guy from shiprights informed me that deag had asked them to make the plates for the victory but nothing had been confirmed and I am wondering when and if deag are going to supply these, as the time is getting close when turning the victory upside down to plate it, will not be an option. If this topic has been discussed previously, please forgive me as I have not seen it. Would be grateful if someone could confirm what is happening concerning this matter. Thanks Wallace.

I would not worry about this if Deag have anything about them they will have approached a number of potential suppliers before selecting the one they are purchasing from “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

Like you say Jase, this is in hand; a special copper sheathing tile set of the correct scale size tile will be available via the DeAgostini web site shop & order form within issue 66. The pack contains enough tiles to complete the task along with instructions for placement; cost will be advised at the point of going on sale.

What I find a little wierd about this is the fact that masts are starting to be built, not a problem for me as my build is on hold at the moment as I am moving on Wednesday, however there is always going to be someone who has not read the instructions properly & has glued the mast in position. To my way of thinking all the lower hull work should have been completed before starting on the upper works...but that's just my opinion..I like to work in a logical order so have not followed instructions to the letter but have done them when I have finished other work...but not to the detriment of the build.Eg..although my planking is finished I haven't planked the foredeck as it was sitting on my jig so didn't want to cause damage. The official build and the instructions are clear about not gluing the mast in place, but there's always one who will even if the instruction not to glue was in 6ft high letters

I make one mistake and Tomick won't let me live it down pmsl on a real note, when I was building the mayflower, it stated in the instructions to secure the masts in place before decking! Yes, I decided to put the mast in then try and get the decks on Ok it was my first ship how was I to know it meant the decking planks lol. Ship Builds on the go
