Thank you guys for the kind comments and your support. Paul... Once I have finished the model, I will be putting up a video to show the finished diorama with sound effects. I’m still at very early stages on the base/diorama, but I know want I want it to look like and I have ideas of how to hide the supports with the cables in, so it looks as if it is floating in mid air. I’ve got a long way to go with this, so it will be a while before it’s finished. Regards Mark Regards Markwarren (Mark) Admin

Looks really good mark. Your weathering and painting are spot-on. Im not a big Starwars fan (New hope onwards are the best IMO) but definitely like this.

Thank you all for looking in.
The next instalment was some more tweaking on the two engine parts. The first thing was to solder the copper cable to the front motor that will turn the fan on the engine intakes on both engines. Once this was done, I glued the front ends to the main engine body and lining it up, so the two parts matched. The two engine parts were then masked off and the front was air brushed with yellow paint. These were then allowed to dry for an hour, before carefully rubbing over with a cotton bud revealing some of the metalcote paint beneath. The energy binder caps were next to be attached. These come in two halves and are about the same size as the circumference of a regular pencil, why they made them in two halves for how small they are, god only knows. The two halves were glued together, and some sanding was needed to get rid of any join and seams. They were then painted and attached as shown. The final picture shows the exhaust vent flaps being attached. These are hinged so they can be opened in any position. I then started to add some of the external pipes on the outer engine.Markwarren attached the following image(s): Regards Markwarren (Mark) Admin

These pictures show the cables and pipes attached. I then used some metal polishing pigment to bring out the detail on the engine. The under-carriage stabiliser was then glued and attached to each engine, feeding the cables through the holes ready for connection to the PCB board. The rear exhaust part is still to be done, along with some more detailing on the engines. I will probably not attach the three steering arms on each piece just yet, as I have a long way to go on this model and I don’t want them to get damaged.
So, until next time, happy modelling.

godan61 wrote:I love not only the detail but the the fact the level of workings inside in relation to the size of it. Many thanks for your kind words. The pod itself is quite small, and I will have to use SMD lights with that part of the build, but I do like a challenge. Mark Regards Markwarren (Mark) Admin

Back with the podracer diorama. Here you can see, I have primed the two halves of the pod. The bottom half came in two sections and these were glued, filled and sanded to get rid of the seam line. The hole was also drilled in the bottom as this is where the cables will run for lighting. The third picture shows the hollow rod in place. I have also made a notch on the underside of Anakin’s seat, this is where the cable will run as the hole is directly beneath. You can also see I have made a hole in the front cockpit for the same purpose.
