The Build Continues :- Base for the boiler and Cab completed and dry fitted to test alignment. Next stage will be to cover the boiler. Will need to find my ponce wheel to so that I can create the rivet effect. I have painted the wheels using an auto motive paint from Halfords. Tried the colour suggested by OcCre but did not like the Matt finish. The wheels require a narrow white rim. After a bit of thought I decided that rather than paint the wheels I would "wheel the paint". Let me explain. I find that my hands are not always steady enough for the finer detail painting. So I made 4 long pegs to hold the wheels and with a brush of white paint held steady in one hand I turned the wheel with the brush held against the edge, it will require a further coat. Well the painting of the white rims did not go well, after several attempts I have decided to remove the white paint and leave just clean metal on the rims. This has delayed the build, but I have been butterflying between the various stages of the build. The next big stage will be to add the skin to the boiler. When I checked the metal components I needed it showed that I had made an error with part of the structure. I had glued the additional supports (F16 and F17) on the wrong side of the central support. This meant there would have been no support for one end of the skin. Being MDF it would probably caused too much damage if I had tried to remove them so I made some new ones and installed these. There is a lot of gluing and waiting and painting and waiting in this build which is why I have been butterflying between the various build parts. In order to get a good shape for the boiler I have used various items as former's.The metal is thin and quite easy to kink. I started with the wife rolling pin to start the curves, followed by a length of 22mm copper tube with a 15mm length to finish. My objective was to make the skins a tight fit so they would hold their shape when put in place. I intend to pin the pieces to the base of the supports as well as gluing. I have already started building the cab. As with the jupiter there are a lot of components in the cab which require painting. A small brush is essential with a good dollop of patients. As I have already mentioned I am using some automotive spray paint for some of the colour. In addition to the can of spray paint I have purchased a stone chip & scratch Kit. The fine brush in this kit is ideal for those small chips that happen as I move and work on this model.I did not like the "face" of the gauge supplied with this kit (It was also printed off center) so I made my own. Downloaded a picture of an old american gauge, Resized it in publisher and printed it onto an address label. Cut out and stuck in place Pictures attached GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle

My build has "run out of steam" at present whilst I await some replacements from OcCre. Do not anticipate any problems with getting the required replacements as I have built their models before and never had any problems with replacements. It just takes a bit of time for them to arrive. In the meantime I have been completing some of the peripheral parts to be added to the main model as and when. more will follow as I am able to proceed GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle

Note to self. Do not start a new build when about to move house After some time and a wait for replacements have now been able to restart this build. The boiler and Cab have now been added to the chassis and I am in the middle of adding the various pipeworks. I do not use the brass wire provided as this arrives coiled up and is a b***** to straighten. In its place I use brass rods of the required thickness, gives a better finish I think. When I built the Victory I constructed a jig to present the ships hull at a 45 degree angle and I found this facilitated the cutting of the gun ports. I am now using the same jig when adding various components to the Rogers Pictures attached and more to follow GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle
