The F-35 Heritage Flight Team will take part in the flying display at the Air Tattoo this July as part of our international celebration to mark 100 years of the Royal Air Force.

This special 'then and now' formation of a veteran warbird; the American P-51D Mustang, teaming up with the U.S. Air Force's latest fifth-generation fighter, the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II, will be a treat for photographers and spectators a like.

The Heritage Flight display will involve a P-51D flown by an USAF Heritage Flight Foundation pilot, more details of both will be confirmed closer to the show. The F-35A pilot is Captain Andrew 'Dojo' Olson, based at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.

The USAF Heritage Flight programme was established over 20 years ago to bring together civilian-owned warbirds and modern military aircraft. The Air Tattoo will be the only Heritage Flight performance in the UK this year and only one of two displays outside of North America!

That’s pretty cool. Gonna have to look it up to see where and when they will do this in the USA. Would love to see this.

Personally though I think it would be cooler if they flew at P-38 and a F-38 together.

DeAgostini kit builds:

Millennium Falcon: 18% Complete
Shelby GT-500: 28% Complete
Thunderbird 2: 13.75% Complete
