The world famous ocean liner the Queen Elizabeth 2, popularly known as the QE2, has been moved to Dubai Drydocks World to begin her transformation into a floating hotel at Port Rashid.

The QE2 was built in the shipyards of John Brown in Clydebank, Scotland. The liner was launched on September 20, 1967 by Queen Elizabeth II and had her maiden voyage in 1969 and 50 years later it's all set for a new journey as a hotel. The ship first arrived in Dubai in November 2008.

The QE2 Hotel is due to open by the second or third week of April 2018 according to information from the reservations team at PCFC Hotels, the operator of the new floating hotel for the former Cunard ocean liner.

In anticipation of its launch, a new website https://qe2.com has gone live with a “Coming Soon” banner.

VERY long overdue.
This awesome ship has been falling to bits in Dubai almost ever since it was sold to them.

Tragic - Cunard should have kept this Global icon and giver her a refit.
Good to see she will be great once again though.

Unfortunately like many things during the 2008 financial crisis, the plans for fell through and only started again in 2017 when a Dubai-based construction company announced it was going ahead with the refurb. Bet the cost to stay won’t be at Travelodge prices Laugh LOL
