Will the ships longboat be included with the model?
As it seems that the boat was not actually carried on board, I suspect that the answer will be no!
Also, will a display stand eventually be offered for ale?

There is no evidence that the Vasa ships boats were ever stored on deck.
The longboat (esping in Swedish) would actually just fit between the foremast and mainmast, but then the jeer capstan cannot be used and it is not possible to cross over the deck in the waist.
Historical evidence suggests that ships boats only began to be carried on deck in warships in the late 1620’s in England, from where the practice spread.
The Vasa longboat was being towed alongside rather than astern when the ship sank. Another boat of similar type but smaller may have been towed astern. The Longboat had a single mast with a sprit sail and forestaysail (the sails survive).
In answer to your query there are no ships boats with the MS kit for the very reason stated above.
As for the stand, there will be a stand available for sale in the MS Shop and details of this will be provided when they become available....

The Sergal and Billings Vasa kits do not provide any ships boats, likely for the very same reasoning.

Thanks for the info. As you say, the Sergal/Mantua and Billings kits don't include boats but it looks as though the Corel kit does. Photos of the model show a boat lashed to the deck, but the shape is totally different to the longboat in the Vasa Museum.
The Revell 1:150 Vasa kit does include two boats of approximately the right design, but to display them correctly it would be necessary to alter the kit to a waterline model.

Indeed the Corel kit does, but as can be seen from Martyns build photo copied below, the longboat supplied in the Corel kit does fit between the foremast and mainmast, but as can also be seen, the jeer capstan cannot then be used and is why the longboat was not stored on deck., unless perhaps the ship was in dock.
Our Vasa information is supplied by Fred Hocker - "there is no evidence to support that the Vasa ships boats were ever stored on deck"., your right to say that to display correctly, the longboat would need to be waterline/towed alongside rather than astern to reflect how it looked just before Vasa sank.

Hi Dave the ships boat is well over sized in the Corel kit and is produced in cast metal so I decided not to use it  I spent a lot of time covering it in wood but gave up on it as like you said it's totally wrong in shape and size . The thinking is the boat was towed along side towards the stern quarter  Hope this helps Martyn Building ?
