Hi, you chose to put the crew in camo? ( which of the german camo patterns is this?) did you have a historical reference for this? I wasn't aware that crews of this nature were ever issued camo unifroms? build looking great btw. Rich.

Hi rich says in the instructions originally the uniform was field grey and white reversible ,but this was scrapped and changed to 3 colour camo reversible so it white on inside for winter.the inside of hood painted white as it would show with hood down .its the water pattern camo scheme.version I'm doing is 1944 .so it would have been the camo scheme by then.cheers Mick. Builds hms victory, suzuki gsx 1300 R hayabusa, honda C B 750, lamborghini countach L P 500 S, tamiya 1/16 rc full option tiger 1 tank, built, Mclaren M P 4 - 23. Occre london tram, Stash.airfix 1/24 mosquito. Diag Virginia schooner, tamiya 1/6 honda 750, tamiya 1/35 famo, tamiya 1/35 flak 88.

Sumpfmuster 44 Also Known as Tan and Water 44 First Issue 1944 Used until 1945 Known items Helmet Cover, Reversible winter Parka, Overtrousers, Paratroopers smock and bandoleers, Reversible smock with hood, Apron, Chemical warfare suit, M1944 uniform. Used By Army (Heer), Airforce (Luftwaffe), Paratroopers (Fallschirmjager) This was a very widely used pattern. It is a further development of Sumpfmuster 43. The colours are similar but the pattern is more diffused. The base colour is tan and the overprints are maroon and dark green. not sure crews of this nature were ever issued with this camo. I have a good friend that specialises in german uniforms, he will know for sure I can ask if you like? Rich.

They look great Mick what i would say is if its waffen ss they would always get new uniforms equipment first so its a real possability they could have as i did re-enacting the waffen ss for over 10 years and the scope for there uniforms is a lot wider than for the heer who were issued the splinter and tan and water regards Phil COMING SOON =1/72 Italeri diorama`s Battle for the Reichstag and Stalingrad battle at the tractor factory 1/16 Trumpeter King Tiger with loads of extras ON THE GO= refurbishment of 1/25 Tamiya tiger 1 , amt Star trek kits and space 1999 models
So Much to Build,But What a Hobby!

How about some photo evidence 2 pictures showing the crew in reversible camo - shot from the front does appear to be pattern 44 too - so its a big thumbs up from my expert in germany he did say its rather rare though and the most common was the grey. hope this helps Rich TRGRichie attached the following image(s):

Was a pleasure mate, I spend a lot of my time colourising ww2 images, I have a few Facebook pages devoted to it, so I would have put money on them not having that camo, even my german expert friend was surprised to find they did, like he said quite rare, but it is ok to paint them like that :) Glad I could help Rich
