I'm hesitant to buy Revell kits due to the issues I experienced with my USS New Jersey. Has the quality improved any recently? Tomick any update on the arrival of the 1/200 Tirpitz part work?

The Etch is designed by Pontos so should be good quality just not clear to me yet how much of it there is given the price of the kit. The Revel Bismarck was very good from a an accuracy POV so expect this to not be a bad kit at all. “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

You have to say thats a bargain. I have said it before but I will say it again the future of plastic models is to have all the aftermarket bits you need in the kit right from the off. all they need to do now is to design the kit with the plastic deck sunk to the right depth so you don't lose the deck detail with overlay decks Definitely on my wish list. “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

It’s a steel, but don’t wait too long. It’s a limited edition kit, which at that price I imagine some people will buy a couple only to put them on eBay at double/treble the price when no longer available as they did with the Academy limited edition Titanic which was £85 when released, and now sells for £250

Received mine today
I have ad a quick rummage through he box. got to say th packing could be better my instructions and decal sheet got a bit hammered nothing damaged though
the two part hull and deck look good plenty of detail from a cursers look at the plastic reasonable level of detail their too. there is a clear fret of search light lenses boat windows and I think bridge windows, not sure on that one. and a nice looking stand.
one thing that stands out is the very comprehensive decal sheet that looks very good.
nice kit it its own right then comes the wood deck, not sure about it level of detail is good but looks like some excessive laser burn, might be my imagination
four bags of turned brass primarily all the armament but also includes masts yards and I think flagstaffs as well as a blackened chain
there is 0ne brass sheet, detail on here is top notch and quite a bit of tiny detail. in addition is two sheets of steel etch loads of top quality detail all very nice a highlight being the railings which have the correct arrangements not just generic the only obvious omission being scuttles but lots of aftermarket options about at this scale
two sets of instructions one for the etch and one for the plastic, both in colour and well presented but still presents the headache of matching the two while building.
overal a really nice kit for the money defiantly a good size project nice one Revell

I hope that Revell have addressed the faults of the the original 1/350 Tirpitz kit instead of just re-boxing it with PE....some German comments on the non PE version...
I found lots of mistakes just to list a few...
1 - the Kaafjord anchorage surrounding is wrong, LongStraumsneset peninsula is too short. They wanted to reproduce Tirpitz on June 1944 situation ( otherwise they must place the ship on Barbrudalen anchorage and not at LongStraumsneset ) but than the ship radar configuration is wong for June 1944.
2 - After September 1943 no more 3rd anchor on thebow, it is wrong.
3 - the flagpost's on the bow and the stern were no more there.
4 - no crownest on the mainmast since december 1941, it is wrong.
5 - What is that blue stripe on the camo ??? Wrong as well.
6 - Were is the Wurzburg parabolic antenna radar ? Were the Fu Mo 26 antenna's and the FuMo 30 Hohentweil
my impression is that Revell did poor research on making this kit, just same error Tamiya did in the past, and only mainly used Bismarck common stuff to make this kit.
In order to make Tirpitz on this configuration they should have depicted her on July 1942 Op. Rosselsprung at Bogen, at Alta , at FaettenFjord, at LoFjord or on early 1943 at Barbrudalen into KaaFjord.
