Just a thought Kev I notice from the kit review that Ebbro provide decals for the Gold/red areas on the kit but no masks to aid painting. Just wondering what your going to do here as you have the Zero paints set for the kit. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Kev, I like your build diary, it looks like you have thought all your processes through. The history of the car and how you plan to build it shows great attention to detail . It really shows you know your stuff! Can never have too many Lotuses (or should that be Lotii) keep up the excellent work. Gray

Thanks for those kind words Gray, very much appreciated. It's always nice to get some feedback on my build diaries, especially such as yours, many thanks!
Should have another build update ready by tomorrow or Friday.

Hopefully later today Tom, I have been working on it over the last couple of days and almost ready to post.
I've been quiet for a couple of weeks as I had a small complication develop after my recent stomach operation (6 weeks ago) and had to go back into hospital for a short stay. Glad to say recovery seems to be back on track so I'm able to sit at my bench now and get some more modelling done. Will also hopefully have an update on my Lancaster build some time next week.
Watch this space.

Hello all,
Apologies for the delay in updating this build, as some of you may know I had an operation (on my stomach) 6 weeks ago and was recovering quite well, however I then developed a small complication which meant I had to go back into hospital for a short stay. Thankfully things are on the mend again but it has meant that I was unable to sit at my bench for a while and couldn't do any modelling until I was sufficiently healed. Happy to say that I am now back at my bench!
The photos below will show my progress since the last update. I have filled and sanded any joins, seams and ejector pin marks and also added some missing details from plastic sheet and strip. The steering rack had no representation at all of the small gearbox that connects the rack to the steering column so I had to scratchbuild one of those, along with some fixing brackets. Also added some missing oval plates within the cockpit footwell, along with two lengths of rectangular channel which are seen in reference photos and which will have the throttle cable and various instrument panel wires routed through them at a later date after the chassis is painted.
I've also added an internal crossbar inside the forward end of the nosecone which will connect with the front sub-frame - which I will also have to scratchbuild at some point! - and I've fitted some neomagnets along the top and bottom edges of the chassis along with some steel plates in the nosecone which will hold it in place but also allow it to be easily removed to show the details beneath.
Looking at reference photos there are a lot of small rivets along the top of the chassis and within the cockpit, and also in the forward box section where the brakes, driveshafts, etc., are fitted. A bit disappointed that Ebbro haven't replicated these rivets in the mouldings, so I've added them myself using 'Bondic' liquid plastic which I found to be a bit of a revelation and which is an excellent product. All of the items in the photos below are now ready for primer, some of the smaller parts still have small sections of sprue left attached to make it easier to handle whilst airbrushing.
I've also cleaned up and primed the resin figure of Jochen Rindt. That will be painted and the decals added in the next week or two.
Thanks for looking in, all comments and criticisms welcomed.
Kev

Glad to hear that your recovering from your Op' and back modelling again ! Nice work with the rivets. Did you use a standard Styrene glue or is it something special? Malc.
