I found getting the dowel to stay in place between the two end blocks a bit difficult, so came up with this idea, which may or may not help others. I just used the "Bitt" method, drilled a .7mm hole in the centre of the end pieces of wood, and stuck a cut off nail in each block, (keeping the point very small) I then pushed the end blocks onto the small dowel, this kept everything together nice and centrally and allowed the glue to dry without the dowel moving. As I say it may or may not help others but it's just an idea which worked for me Come on you Jimmies

Thanks for that, I was finding it a bit tricky as well. I usecd pins for the columns as well that helped keep them in place
