Well at long long last i have finaly finished the second planking and can carry on with the build. The planking did not go to plan but for my forst build i am pleased with how it is turning out.





So now on to part 40.

Great attempt for a first build, though unsure if your aware it look's like you've got a twist crept in.

Have a good look at the 2nd front to back photo and the lie of the stern frame compared with the lie of bulkhead planking; the stern frame appears to fall towards the left, giving the impression of the deck at the stern on the right side being higher than the left side.

foz,sorry to see the twist,have to agree with the o holy one on this,how do you feel about it,
this is what I'd do,order up some wood 5x2's,spray water over the entire planking inside and out several times,it should come apart quite easily,starting with the decks,then the planking,keep spraying as you go,and strip down to the framework.you will need a jig and then straighten out by spraying the frame joints,a lot of work i know,or just carry on and show from side only,I feel for you,it has happened to me but not so late on into the build,

I wouldn't go as far as scrapping, but it's going to be a headache to sort, but it must be sorted if the gallery is to sit square, the worrying thing is that the deck also rises at the right-hand side which suggests the problem could be deep seated.

You first need to get the model sat square and look at the problem from all angles before doing anything, then explore as to what the cause might be, and establish how much the stern frame needs to be brought back into alignment

It could be as simple as adding/removing material on the frame ledge, or it could be a major chop job.

The ledge of the frame needs to be level and square with the ship, just how far out it is can be checked using the lower deck of the gallery, also check that the height of the gallery panels do sit too low/high, you can then start looking at adding/removing material from the edge of the frame to get its edge level and square with the ship.

That said, I suspect the twist problem is likely deep seated, possibly having planked onto a twisted frame; and therefore as Karl says, the safest route may be to strip back to a point where it can be resolved at source; failing that a tinkering fix such as that described above which will need to be carefully performed; but regardless of how you wish to display your model, the problem needs to be put right or at least improved, otherwise your going to have major fit problems with the gallery panels.

Sorry to find out about the problem at the stern, it took me some time looking on the big screen I think I know what's happened, if I'm right I might be able to help you mate!. I need a little time to work out if there is away to correct the problem without taking it all apart. You will need to remove the back of the deck but not yet.
