The Dam Busters competition is now open!
Competition rules:
1. The Dam Busters competition is open to all ModelSpace members and consists of 6 Dam Busters related questions.
2. All entrants must have made at least 25 posts into the forum during 2018, ahead of the competition start date.
3. No cash alternative, only 1 prize on offer which will be shipped worldwide.
4. Starting the 12th May, a Dam Buster related question will be posted each day across 6 days. Once you have all answers, you can then post your entry into this topic. The final question will be posted on the 17th May.
5. The first member to post all correct answers within a single post, will be deemed a Dambuster and be the winner!
6. One entry per member/person permitted, (any entry edit will deem the entry as void).

Question 1. A meeting of the RAF Bombing Committee was held to bring to the attention a potential weakness in the German Industrial Economy. a) What was the date of this first meeting and who chaired it? b) What was the paper number that was circulated from this meeting?

The bombs were manufactured by Vickers Armstrong, the very same company that employed Barnes Wallace.
a) What was the codename given for the bombs?
b) How many bombs were ordered and how many of these were built for practice?
c) The bombs, once loaded onto the bomb trolley, could not slide sideways under the aircraft for loading into the bomb bay. How was this problem resolved?
d) What was the explosive that was used inside the bombs?

The raid on the dams were carried out in three waves.
a) Which wave took off first and why?

d) During the raid one of the rear gunners almost drowned in his aircraft. What was his name and how did this happen?
