A very special event is on its way to Derbyshire to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Dambusters bombing raid.

On May 16, the BBMF Lancaster bomber will head from RAF Scampton, over the Howden, Derwent and Ladybower reservoirs in the heart of the Peak District and it due to pass over the Derwent Dam at about 12.05pm. It will then continue down the Derwent Valley and pass over Chatsworth House before heading to Rolls-Royce in Derby and then onwards to the Eyebrook Reservoir in Leicestershire.

All the info you need to make sure you grab your place for this historic moment....

After all the best-laid plans, the wind speed forecast for tomorrow (16 May 2018) is expected to be outside the limitations placed on the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) Lancaster Bomber. It means the planned flight over Derwent Dam and down the Derwent Valley could be cancelled. The RAF will decide whether or not the flight can go ahead tomorrow.

There`s just no accounting for British weather. Cursing Cursing

Temperatures set to drop 10 degrees from todays temperature and winds picking up. Local Eyebrook forecast is 100% cloud with minimal rain.

Will check again in the morning with everything crossed, but it don`t look good.Blink

If its a go then I`ll post pics here asap.

Disappointment as Derwent Dam flyover events end in 'farce'

The Lancaster flyover was cancelled, then a replacement Typhoon flight was grounded - but as people left the area the Typhoon shot by - and most missed it!!
