Okay, so I'm as far as step 18, pack 2 and putting the gun deck in place. The gun deck itself sits on all the support beams except for that on rib 20 where there is a gap of 5mm or possibly more. Is this right? The ribs all sat level on the keel so I'm pretty sure this is not the cause of the problem. I've tried to take a photo to illustrate with ribs 19 and 18 at the front of the photo to show that the deck sits on the support beams on them - in the background of the photo you can see the problem gap on rib 20. Will this cause problems later in the build? Rabbit6 attached the following image(s):

Hi. Not sure if you're aware but there is an official video build for this kit too. Have a look at this, it covers the area's of fitting the decks and support beams. Check that what you have done matches the video and if you still have a problem or unsure then do get back to me... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSIgiBVq_js&list=PLAUMlkDf1XpjUDnPzoDagw3u2T7tQIBv4&index=10Regards Alan

Hi Rabbit Can you do this check for me, use a 12 inch/300mm steel rule or something that you know has a straight edge of the same length. Lay the rule along the top step of the ribs with rib 20 in the middle of the rule if all the ribs line up with the rule on both sides then the ribs are placed correctly and the deck has a slight warp and can be nailed/pinned in place. If the ribs are not in line in that area please get back to me with your findings. Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Ok, I will do this when I get home from work this evening and let you know my findings.
I have been following the official build videos online as well as the books sent with the packs which is why I'm a bit stumped by this one.
Thanks for your help

Perhaps a few more pics from different angles would help as well, Rachel.

Okay, I did exactly what you said with the rule and it sits level on all ribs except 19 and 20, where there are gaps. Having re-examined the build so far, it looks like rib 18 has slipped out a bit - possibly when I put the pins through the first deck into the ribs and then glued the them. So, my options are...? Try to take it apart? (Not sure how successfully this can be done given the wood glue) Carry on laying the gun deck but add a second support beam spanning rib 20 so that the deck rests on something? Really annoyed with myself that I didn't spot it earlier!

Hi Rabbit Its not all bad and fixable. Take some warm water in a cup or jar then using a brush wet the glue and joint until the glue softens enough so you can reseat the frame. It may take a while for the glue to soften enough to move the frame but if you persist it will work. Forgot to say try not to soak the plywood just the area where the glue is. Right - try as I might to dislodge the ribs and re-seat them using advice given on here I didn't manage it. Cue my OCD and I re-ordered packs 1 & 2....yep you guessed it, I'm starting again!
Still, I might pay more attention to what I'm doing this time.
On the plus side, I've got a few DT-mad pupils at the school where I work who would love to try and make something out of the old carcass. Who knows, they might eventually become ship modellers too!

Many of us have gone down the route of starting a build again and ending up with very successful builds.... Good luck with it and I would also recommend you keeping a build diary, that way we can see how you're progressing and hopefully pick up on any errors that may creep in.... Look forward to seeing how you get on.... Regards Alan

Its a shame you`ve had to restart, but wish you well with it. I`m sure you`ll be fine with a lesson learnt and I bet we`ve all been there at some time in our modelling years. Good luck, Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

I received mine in the post a week or so ago - just got to get enough posts on here to begin! In the meantime, managed to get the anchor done. Rabbit6 attached the following image(s):
