Stage 74
Thunderbird 2
Parts supplied: Tailwing lower, backing R + L, Backing C x2, Ramjet covers x4.
Familiarise yourself with the lower tailwing part and the left and right backings that are marked with an L and an R.
Glue one of the ramjet covers to the right backing plate and another to the left backing plate. Then do the same for the central backing plates.
When the glue has dried note the downward-facing hooks on the backings and glue the right ramjet and backing into the notches at the right-rear of the lower tailwing. Using the same method carry on and glue the central ramjets into position and finally the left one.
Cobra Half-Track
Parts supplied: Headlights, Seat, Bulkhead, Dashboard, Windscreen, Roll cage, Bonnet rails x2 (on a fret), Search lights x2, Steering wheel, Jerry cans x2, Canvas packs x2, Canopy, Planks x2.
Glue the steering wheel to the dashboard keeping the parts level to each other
When the glue has set fix the dashboard to the main body, then follow on with the seat and the bulkhead. Next fit the roll cage, which should fit neatly around the bulkhead.
Now fit the headlights to the front of the main body and the bonnet rails to the bonnet making sure the rails are level to the bonnet and each other. With the glue set on the bonnet rails fix the windscreen in place and the searchlights just infront of the windscreen.
Next fit the canvas packs onto the sets of planks. Then glue one of the jerry cans in place with a pack/plank assembly behind it and then repeat for the other side. Finally, glue the canopy into position.

Stage 75

Parts supplied: Tailwing upper, Intake R, Intake L, Intake C x2, Intake fins x48 (on 8 frets).
Familiarise yourself with the upper tailwing part and locate the R and L marks on the right and left intakes.
Carefully separate the fins from the sprues as you need them. These will be glued into the intakes vertical grooves and be located by their central pins. Starting with the right (R) intake, glue a fin in place making sure it sets at right angles to the intake. Then keep adding fins until all 11 are fixed in place. Now begin adding fins to the left intake (L) in the same way until there are 11 in position and repeat for both of the central (C) intakes.
Glue the intakes into their relevant positions via the notches in the lower tailwing part assembled in the previous stage. Then lower this stage’s upper tailwing part onto the lower one matching the mounting posts and holes. Lightly tighten each of the six screws in place to hold the upper and lower tailwing parts together. When the parts are lined up correctly carefully tighten all the screws.

Stage 76

Parts supplied: Tailwing fin L, Tailwing fin R, Duct L, Duct R.
Firstly note the L and R markings on the insides of the ducts.
Slot the tailwing’s left side block into the slot in the left tailwing fin making sure the part is flush with the side of the tailwing and angled down and inwards. Then take the left duct noting it is thinner at the front end and using a little glue fit the duct over the protruding tailwing block sealing in the fin. Make sure the duct remains flush with the side of the tailwing.
Now repeat for the right fin noting again that its side block will locate it and the right duct will secure it in place.

Stage 77

Parts supplied: Control board, Extension cable (for the cockpit LED), Screws x4.
Important note:
Your download instructions instruct you to connect the extension cable to the cockpit LED wires. This extension cable will be disconnected again in stage 79 to then be connected to the control board. and then in stage 80 will be reconnected to the cockpit. My advice is to keep the extension cable in a stage labelled bag until you reach stage 79 to minimise the chance of damaging it by plugging in and out too often. I have included pictures of the extension cable fixed to the cockpit should you wish to go with the download instructions.
Make sure there are no batteries in your model’s battery box and that the switch is in the OFF position. You will now remove the test board: begin by using tweezers to carefully pull each of the cable’s connectors out from its socket and then remove the three screws securing the test board to your model. Carefully store the test board incase you need it at a later date.
Familiarise yourself with the final control board. The sockets have descriptions printed next to them, and are also annotated in a photo in the download instructions.
Lay the control board where the test board was and fix it in place with three of the screws supplied in this stage. Now carefully attach the plugs you removed from the test board to the control board, checking their positions as you proceed.
That completes the wiring up of the control board for now.

Stage 78

Parts supplied: Wing L, Wing R, Fixing joint x2, Red and Blue wing tip lights.
Noting the L and R markings on the inner edges of the two wings, dry fit the red wingtip light to the tip of the left wing and the blue wingtip light to the tip of the right wing.
Familiarise yourself with the shape of the two fixing joints at the bottom of which you will see a T-shaped pin. Fit the first joint to its slot on the left side of your model matching the T-shaped pin with its recess and press the part into place. Then repeat for the right side again matching the T-shaped pin/recess.
Mobile Crane
Parts supplied: Warning bar, Bumper, Main body, Wheel inners x6 (on a fret), Wheel outers x6 (on a fret), Tyres x12, Axles x3.
Glue a wheel inner to a wheel outer and then repeat for another five wheels. Now glue one wheel set into the central recess in a tyre and repeat for a further five wheels. Next fit another tyre to each of the six wheel/tyre sets and then fit three of the wheel sets to the axles provided.
The main body came preassembled, but if you need to glue its parts together then do so via its locating posts. With the glue dry position the three axles in place and secure them by pressing a free wheel set to the other end of each axle.
Noting the shape of the warning bar and bumper, glue the bumper in position onto the main body making sure it is the right way up and then fit the warning bar to it.

Stage 79

Parts supplied: Side frame R, Side frame L, Screws x3.
If previously fitted disconnect the LED extension cable from the cockpit’s LED cable and fit its other connector to the free socket on the control board marked ‘headlight’. Now run the extension cable along the side of your model, pressing it between the pins on the top rail cover. If the cable does not stay in place you can fix it with small pieces of low tack masking tape.
With the cockpit/nose asembly face down, line up the right side frame positioning the mounting lug so it sits on top of the cockpit’s smaller one and secure the lugs with a screw. Make sure the join is neat and that the contours of the parts match then repeat for the left side frame.
Mobile Crane
Parts supplied: Front unit, Intake, Intake base, Cockpit, Crane mount, Headlights x2, Light mount / Searchlight (on a fret), Name plates x2 (on a fret), Crane arm A+B, Platform base, Handrail, Hydraulic bar, Crane base, Pivot A+B, Hinge pin, Ariel.
The hydraulic bar is first glued into the holes on the crane arm B. Now slot the tip of crane arm A into the hinge of arm B and using tweezers fit the hinge pin into the hole joining the arms by pressing the pin into place with the back of the tweezers until the pin is fully inserted into the hinge. Then glue the platform base to the end of the crane arm A via its pins and then the handrail to the base completing the platform assembly.
Now glue the intake to the intake base and pivot B to pivot A. Then glue the front unit to the forward section of the main body and the crane mount a little way behind it. The cockpit fits next facing forwards and the crane base will clip into place in the centre of the platform. The intake assembly fits next with the intake pointing forwards.
Fit the nameplates facing outwards onto the rear sides of the crane base and then glue the combined pivots A + B into place at the rear end of the crane base. Now clip the crane itself into its base without using any glue and then the pin at the top of the pivots will locate and hold the crane’s upper length.
Now fit the headlights to the front of the vehicle and the light mount with the searchlight into the hole on top of the intake. Finally the aerial fits next to the searchlight.

Stage 80
Complete your Thunderbird 2
Parts supplied: Rear body panel, Controller face, Controller body, Joint plate, Light block, A-B buttons, C-D buttons, Small screws x2, Medium screws x3, Large screws x18.
Join the rear body panel to the back end of the side frames via the posts so there are no gaps. Then carefully turn the assembly over and lightly secure the posts with two of the large screws supplied. Having checked that the parts are correctly positioned securely tighten both screws.
Reconnect the cockpit LED cable to the extension cable and then gently lower the upper body onto the lower body making sure the missile launcher spring and its tube engage neatly.Now temporarily fasten the upper and lower parts with bits of low tack masking tape.
Lay your model gently on a towel or soft cloth face down and lightly tighten larger screws into all the fixing holes. When you are happy that everything is correctly in place work around all of the screws in a random, criss-crossing order as you have previously, to ensure even pressure is achieved. With each screw fully tightened remove the masking tape and place your model back the right way up.
Take the assembled right wing (with T2 insignia and blue light) and glue it into the right-side slot noting that the wing should fit neatly and point forwards. Now repeat for the left wing. Next slot the fins of the tailwing into the longitudinal slots at the rear of the model. Finally fit either pod 3 or 4 into your model, remembering that the pods are not fixed to the outer frame so care must be taken when lifting your model.
All that’s left to do is prepare the remote control:
Begin this process by slotting the joint plate into place on the controller body noting its orientation and making sure the part is seated correctly. Now fit the light block into position in the controller face and secure it with a small screw.
Next dry fit the A-B and C-D buttons into their respective holes and check the front side of the face to ensure that they are positioned correctly. Now making sure the plate remains in position join the controller body to the face and secure it with two medium screws. The controller is complete and will need two AAA batteries for it to operate.
An operation check of the functions of your model and remote along with a fault finding guide should you need it are included at the end of your download instructions for Stage 80.
This completes the build of Thunderbird 2 and its associated Rescue Vehicles
