Hello all

I treated myself to the Dragon 1/6th Sherman and Willys jeep and
looking for the correct paint colour. I have had s quick look around
but there seems to be a lot of differences so if anyone has
any suggestions I’d be grateful.

Thank you.

Regards.

Alan

BigGrin Hi some nice kits there you need to decide if your going to do an early or late version for each model and then search for the colours for that time. You may be lucky to find a dedicated paint set for the era you wish to depict.

But I would point out if your doing a pristine fresh off the boat paint job then the colour will need to be exact for the time period but if its been in the field for a good time then fading/wear ect will give a general faded/worn olive drab type finish.

If doing a winter paint job you need to think of an olive drab base with a white wash type overcoat showing traces of the olive showing through on the places that had extra wear like the edges of the doors and places where equipment was loaded/removed ect.

Also google for pictures as you will find plenty of them out there to give you ideas on the look you want.

Hope this helps.

Dragon once did a Jeep kit special which included the engine., sadly the engine alone is a very rare find these days but Shapeways has a version of it, though far from cheap..

Hello Andy.

Thanks for the info. I’m planning, for the tank, to use
Canadian markings around D-Day.
Same era for the jeep but in American markings.

I’ll look into the paint kit-that’s sounds ideal.

The tank, by far is the biggest model I’ve made but
it really is impressive. Didn’t think about a build diary
but sounds a good idea.

Regards.

Hi Tomick

Thanks for that. An engine would be a great addition
I will have a look into that.

Hello Al

I will do a build diary.

The Sherman kit is huge, there aren’t many of
these around-took me ages to find one at the right
price too!

Regards.
