Many thanks for your comments Alan. I have finished filling all the seam lines and sanded down several times to get a smooth finish over several days. I then masked off the internal area and resprayed with silver aluminium. The inside of the side engine flaps were highlighted and painted, although you won’t see these unless you look inside. The bottom cooling pads were also attached and then highlighted with some wash. Finally, I attached the two side panels/flaps. I just have the top wing vents to fix into place once I have painted them. Then it is onto applying the blue markings on the panels and then a varnish finish. Thank you for looking. The pod has had a coat of gloss varnish before applying the decals. As you can see in the first few pictures, the placement for the decals in the instructions differ from the original prop version. The front part of the pod on the original prop has the blue markings up to where the windscreen goes, whilst the model instructions have the decals beyond the windscreen which is wrong.
I did have a bit of an issue, as it was not as simple as moving the decals down as I originally thought. I had some cutting and rearranging to do to get them in a similar place to where they are on the original prop version. I didn’t place all the decals on at the same time as there were so many to put on, and the pod is a little over 7cm long and I didn’t want to dislodge any whilst handling the model. The whole process has taken me over a week, but I’m quite pleased with the results.
Once I had them all in place, I used some polished aluminium to chip the blue marking, giving them the worn look. I then gave the whole thing another coat of gloss varnish. This is now ready for the final weathering stages once the rest of the parts are in place. You will also see I have painted the seat and head cushion and fixed them in place. Before doing so I bound the main seat with some hessian strips as is shown on the prop version.
Thank you for looking, more soon.
