The airbase that is home to the Red Arrows and from which the Dambusters raid was launched in the Second World War is to be sold to save money!
It's likely to prompt protest and Govt petition, though defence sources indicate that the cost of maintaining the site was no longer sustainable at a time of constrained MoD finances.

Surely its a site of historical significance, for starters, the original office of Guy Gibson still exists and has been remade to look as it was in 1943 which also overlooks the grave of Gibson's dog as made famous in the 1955 film The Dam Busters.

What with al the MoD cost-cutting, it beg's the question, can the UK afford to operate the F-35's well into the future?
