Hms M2 was an M class submarine. Due to the end of World War 1 only three M class subs were built and after an accident with M1 (Yes they were very inventive with the names  )M2 was designated for experimental use. So they removed the 12 inch gun and fitted an aircraft hanger with doors that opened forward and had a catapult to launch the small Parnall Peto seaplane. The biggest suspicion for its loss is due to human error causing the sub to flood and sink with the loss of all souls aboard. After one failed attempt to recover the wreck it now lies in approx 30 metres of water off the south coast of England. More info and links: http://military.wikia.com/wiki/HMS_M2

 The Japanese seam to have got it right in the 2nd WW with there I-400 type subs  Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
