Hi Fozy,
Having had a look at your last picture re the middle wale, it looks like you have made the rear section of the deck a little flat rather than gently curving upwards towards the stern resulting in the gun ports being straight and level behind the entry port. First two are close to being level and then they rise, the last one being some 10mm higher at the front bottom corner. Not sure if this helps but good luck all the same.

I am sure it will.

Other people will not be able to see the mistakes even after you point them out.

Hi,
Just a thought, you could just build up the bottom of rear gun ports and re-cut the tops to give you the correct line for the wale strips.
Your decision entirely, but the error will keep nagging away at you and as you have made such a great job of correcting the twist this final tweak will give you a great deal of satisfaction and renew your pride in your excellent build.
Best regards

Thanks for that.

I have come to a decision on this build. As i have messed it up from the start, going to keep on going and use it as my test peice. The other builds i have going have now been put on hold untill the Vic is finished, or nearly finished so i can learn from all the mistakes. I know this is an expensive way of doing this hobby but hey, we all have to learn.
So was looking at other kits from Cornwall models, anyone know which would be the better kit to buy from there.

mean while, this is were i am now, and im glad the doctor put me on leave for a week so i could work on it.

Regards

Foz

It is far more than a test piece, it is a great build and deserves more
attention than simply being a learning tool for your next build.

It is the only way of doing the hobby. I have not even finished planking
yet but if I were to do it again everything would be different. And then
that will apply to each and every build I do in the future.

Don't be premature about giving up on the old lady. This is still your
main build and will continue to require you undivided attention.

Hi Foz
Keep it in there bud. Since I am also a first timer I also do mistakes. Remember. Everything in life could always be done better the next time since we all are learning from prior experiences. The main thing to remember is that with every attempt one always do it to the best one can. So keep up the GOOD work and learn for future reference.

By the way Your build looks great!!!

Hi Foz, the way you found a problem with your build and and the way you went about fixing it is a credit to you, and that requires skill.

You should be very proud of your build so far, many others would like a build as good as yoursLOL Do not put yourself downCool YOU HAVE A GREAT BUILDThumpUp

Hi Foz,
Just caught up with your build and boy-o-boy what a difference the wales have made.
You have made a remarkable recovery from what at first seemed like a terminal disaster, and now have a build to be really proud of, well done, you have a great skill and I hope that you now will enjoy your build to the full.
Keep the pictures coming, this is much more than a test piece it is an inspiration to us all.
Once again well done that man

have looked at your previous posts and admire the way you have worked round your problems. It's a pity that you had glued the middle wale because it could have been raised easily. Your model is looking good. Well done.

Hi Foz...

The Victory is looking very good and it is good to take time out, so you can come back refreshed.
I think that is why i am trying two builds, so all the problems are hopefully not repeated on the second build.

Great work,
Best regards,
Ian

Upper gun deck now finished and the start of the gratings, which i found extremly fiddly to do.

Another slight hic cup though, dont know weather deck is to high or the gun ports cut wrong but trying the guns in place just to have a look found the barrels hittin the top of the gun ports. Sure ill be able to sort it out though.

Well time to leave the old girl for a bit and go hospital visiting.

Happy buildings folks
