Assembling the framework specifies four 2.5 x 4mm screws and one 2.5 x 8mm screw - "Secure the top ring to the leg support using two 2.5 x 4mm screws".
2.5 x 4mm seems odd to secure the top ring to the leg supports - 2.5mm x 8mm were used to secure the leg to the lower ring.
The bigger problem is that i don't have 4 of those screws.
Anyone else have the same problem?

Hi 2bob The 2.5 x 4mm frame/rod fixing screws are fine for fixing the rod/frame together along with the 2.5 x 8mm screw, the frame top has less stress than the lower frame so the screws do not need to be as hefty as the lower frame screws. You should have received those screws with stage 73/83 both of these stages have lots of screws that need to be stored for future assembly. If they were missing then contact C/S for a replacement. I didn’t have 4 of these 4mm ones either, had 4 of the 8mm ones, so used these instead 4mm seems way too short for securing the top ring I also have a few 6mm ones, so either could be used. R2 has been designed to use specific parts and screws if they say 4mm screws are to be used then they should be used. Some of the screws look similar, I would check your screw box to see if they have got mixed in with other screws. I used the 4mm screws specified to fix the frame to the top of the cast leg mount and they work fine. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Andy,
weren't the majority of the 2.5 x 4mm screws supplied with 73 used when attaching the cranked supports in issue 73 and 75?
I've been careful to follow the instructions and mearuring the screws as i go. I think i only have 1 or 2 spare 2.5 x 4mm screws left at this point.
Anyhow, i have enough 2.5 x 8mm so have gone with those - can't see any harm in using longer screws in this case.
Curiously i have a number of 2.5 x 5mm screws but haven't seen those mentioned anywhere so far?

The best way to store unused the screws for each issue, is in an issue labelled self-seal bag, that way there can be no mistake of what screws received with each issue and is easy to pin point.

That would work if the intructions always specified which issue the screws came with - but they rarely do.

Its a simple case of noting the issue number onto the bag so you can refer to the issue the screws were supplied with, also the official R2 build notes additional screw type information issue by issue. Those that have just put all screws into a box without any reference are going to have a nightmare of screw retrieval.

But, the system falls down unless the instructions specify which issue the required screw came with. Anyhow, in this case we're talking about 2.5 x 4mm screws - difficult to get those confused with a 2.5 nut and a ruler to hand.
