Hi there shipmates...There I was, happily toiling away on my precious model when a fellow shipmate points out a thumping great gaff made by me.Blushing..Crying ..I have got to the stage were I had cut the wriggles out, and found that they sit too high above the gun ports!! Now, I have looked at the gun ports and at the wales...and for the life of me can't see how this foo-pah occurred or how the heck I can resolve the problem???Confused Believe me when I say, I actually failed to get a good night's sleep because of it!!Blink Your very valuable input is most urgently needed please...Blink

You might want to try lifting and removing the offendong strips, failing that, chop out the bad part and replace

Id agree with the holy one there mate and replace the wales.

But if the wriggles should be cut of of the wales then both you and i have problem as i only had to cut a few out and not all of them.

Hope you get it sorted.

as the holy one says, spray water(warm to hot)on the whales, and gently lift them off,do not panic,it's easily sorted as long as you soak them.

Hi jonny! Cool

When you have removed the lower plank of the wales that need replacing, then fitted the new planks you will need to set the wriggles in the correct place and only trim the wales were needed. To help you in this task here is the part of my diary that explains how I did it.

As I fitted the wales I needed to support the wriggles as I drew around there position on the wales so I made a block from scrap wood the same size as the port. Then I added on top a piece of the same wood as the port linings and rested the wriggle onto this I check all the port making only the ports that needed to have wood removed.

Thanks Mr.T. Does that go for the upper wales as well as the middle wales? As they seem a bit high as well...cheers one and all as I was beginning to think that something really drastic had gone wrong!! Moving the wales I can cope with, but a total rebuild wooohhhaaaaa!!!LOL

Hi SoB, thanks for your input mate... I am halfway through stripping the offending wales off of my build...I thought I'd let you know that I like that block in the gun port idea for holding the metal eyebrows in place, don't mind if I use it do you???BigGrin

Hi jonny! Cool

If the block idea will help you then please use it!.

A number of us have had problems in the build some had their problems pointed out to them, other felt they could do better second time round. I wasn't happy with the grate size after fitting the quarter deck and went to fit the ladders so I had a right job removing the grates to reduce the width, then refitted them.

It all part of the fun! Just wish I didn’t keep pulling my hair out, now where’s my stress pills gone!!!. Laugh
